Not my idea, but the day Johnson leaves, there should be a huge, national, 6 pm clap

Please consider a retweet if you agree (and if you follow me and don't agree, maybe we're not a good match!)
Had a little silent celebration at 2pm today, when the deadline passed meaning I'll never again have to be 'OFSTEDed' again. Two more days until my days as a head are over.
@LozzaFox
Love to see you say to any one of the men kneeling that they were a coward. They'd eat you for breakfast. Anything for a reaction though, huh Lawrence?
@LozzaFox
So many deluded people. So every state who voted Biden is fraud, but all the Trump votes are genuine? Democracy wins over fascism. Close call unbelievably, but that's how democracy works.

As the father of a child who was perm Xd, I can tell you that sometimes it is for the best. Some children need a very specific setting and trying to keep them in mainstream has a devastating effect on staff, other children and the parents as well.
So, having gone 2 years in school without contacting Covid, I manage to get it on the second day of the summer holiday. Family holiday to Crete, booked two years ago, now gone, most of the money probably lost.
What a send off by my school. A fantastic assembly, loads of thoughtful gifts and nearly £500 donated towards new books for the school library in lieu of presents by the parents. Handed over the keys and laptop and now time to adjust to the new normal.
@simonharris_mbd
Soo... he's a doting father who wants to see his child on their birthday, but also a son who wants to support his father on an important day? How awful!
@norfolkpainter
Yeah, why should they have a balanced diet with vitamins, minerals, etc. Besides which, for most kids two slices of toast and a few spaghetti hoops wouldn't even be filling.
@Kirsty_H220
We still get little nuggets from our 18 yo who's independent and loved up, but still learning some social skills. Each one is just lovely!

@GretaThunberg
9 year old kid at my school with ASD is the most brilliant, loquacious and passionate public speaker. The Spectrum is not a learning disability numbnuts.
@Debra_BealeTU
And a whole lot more will actually use at least some of the day to catch up on planning, paperwork etc especially if SENDCos, or in 'the window' of fear.
Only two weeks left before we roll again. Who knows what next year will bring. Difficult to believe it can be harder than the previous two years, but what those two years have shown us is 1) anything could happen and 2) school staff are bleedin amazing and can (and will) cope.
Is it just me, or does no one else give a toss about Djokovic? What about some coverage on Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe? Bring her home instead of let him in.

How about complaining that some Tory-mate had been given £30 OF TAX PAYERS MONEY to provide £5 worth of food. Theft. Fraud. Even if you don't think children who would be fed at school deserve to be fed of they're at home., that's still an outrage.
Achieved legendary status in a y5 class today. Huge wasp causing havoc. I walked in, told the class we needed to ask it to leave and opened a window. We asked it to leave and it flew straight out.
The so - called fans who have trashed London, invaded Wembley and will no doubt cause havoc after the match regardless of the result, should be in the front page of every paper tomorrow, banned from their own clubs and hopefully disciplined by their employers. Utter cretins.
@nickjfrost
We wonder why we get nil points in Eurovision. We don't deserve any respect. Numbskulls who think hating other countries is the same as patriotism.
So blessed to work in the school I do. Deputy head arranged an amazing launch for my poetry book, including each class performing their favourite poem in an assembly. First time is heard my poems being performed!
@michael_merrick
No abuse from me. But hypocrisy is hypocrisy on Easter Day as any other. The Rwanda plan is immoral and in the eyes of the CofE 'ungodly'. I'm fairly sure the Pope would say the same.
@MaryBoustedNEU
@NEUnion
I hope the story given in private to your members has been more direct and assertive than this. I'm all for cohesion and avoiding further inflammation but this reads rather too much like appeasement. Extremism from any front must not dictate educational policy or practice
Great initiative on here for any educationalists annoyed/ offended by Sir Gav's knighthood... change your name on here to Sir or Dame. Retweets welcome!
I know people have suffered far worse, my symptoms though bad yesterday are alreasy easing and I'm lucky to be in a full time job with the money that allows such holidays from time to time. But still an absolute bummer.
@quietdeputy
I've asked our parents to direct complaints to me and praise directly to parents. Last night teachers got loads and loads of praise emails. I got no complaints. Very lucky with the parents eve got, and lovely the teachers ended the week with a praise shower
@Councillorsuzie
To what extent do you defend them when they are wrong? A major issue in schools today is parents defending children and attacking school for imposing sanctions, even as slight a missed playtime, because their angel is never wrong. Not a healthy preparation for real life.
First day back was inset. Safeguarding, timetables etc plus a break to watch one of our teachers in the semi finals for the paralympics table tennis. Oh, and being interviews by Look North and Radio Sheffield. Glad the randomness of the job hasn't changed.
@hello_nownow
@RussInCheshire
The idea is to remove the Boris verse and get children to come up with their own outrageous ideas. I do lots of poetry with kids, this is a new one I think will prove popular. Thanks!!
Why am I up at such a ridiculous time? Oh yes, a year ago, going to the Leeds Festival seemed such a good idea could have just dropped son off to meet his gf, but noooo let's go and experience the day for ourselves.
Admired a beautifully drawn and coloured wooly mammoth in class today, and the y5 pupil said, 'when colouring wooly mammoths, it's OK to not stay in the lines, it makes then extra hairy'. The most poetic thing I've ever heard a child say! So I wrote her a poem...
@Headteacherchat
Police. I've reported specific threats to me and my family and the police did a home visit straight away. Happened to visit as a crime was being committed which was a nice bonus.
So they say things come in threes:
1) 6 staff already tested positive this week.
2) kitchen roof at school has just collapsed.
3) ???
Prize for anyone who correctly predicts the next crisis at mine!

@WhistleblowingT
Headteachers can't minimise daily disruption due to underfunding, low morale, increasing pressure, low retention and recruitment rates etc etc. The strikes are a last resort to save education.
@thereclaimparty
Please don't attempt to turn the public against the teaching profession. The vast majority of parents are understanding of the situation and trust teachers and schools to make the right choices. Online education is working well for more and more kids including the disadvantaged.
@markjenkinsonmp
@NEUnion
And your party certainly doesn't. Unfunded pay rise leading to dire budget positions even without the energy and other costs. Woefully underfunded SEND, leaving the most inclusive schools with additional holes in their budgets.
So, key stage one chess club update. One child refused to enter tonight, tantruming about is having no good reading books in school. One cried for much of the session after another child took a single pawn.
@HWT_PE
Is not just your school. We think much of it is stressed and busy parents over lock down just saying yes to little Billy to keep him quiet. Billy now doesn't like being told what he can or can't do
@AlisonKriel
I jumped before I was pushed 4 years ago. The governor mainly responsible was later implicated in financial impropriety in the trust he worked for. Gave me great satisfaction knowing it wasn't me letting children down after all.
@MissT1302
Have you asked SLT for support? They should see this as a sign off strength and professionalism. Could they have you shadow a teacher who is more experienced (and that's usually all it is) to see what strategies work? Is their a clear behaviour and rewards system in school?
@markpack
They should rebel en masse . If they are sanctioned, he loses his majority and becomes even weaker. They are dead in the water anyway, why not have some dignity and integrity? If they've been decent MPs, stand again as independents?
@ET__321
@TomEaston
My youngest, who has SEND, decided on entry that everything in it was fake and spent half an hour just loudly proclaiming that everything was fake, fake, fake. Left quickly. Also never returned.
@MrHtheteacher
I'm on a list called Brain Dead Cockwombles. Not sure if it was created by a brexiteer or an anti vaxxer, but I'm taking it as a compliment
Had a fabulous first day back with kids. Honestly met on the path up into school by a dozen or so children cheering as they ran.
And one, solitary year six who called out, 'one more year and I'm outta here!' A touching moment.
