My son is autistic, I asked what his favourite dinosaur was when I tucked him in for bed (T-Rex obvs), then I heard a little voice whisper “mummy, what’s your favourite dinosaur?” He asked me a question back tonight & I just needed to tell someone because it was lovely

A person on the check out saw my son holding a dinosaur toy & tried to play with him saying “ahh will it eat me!?” & he just looked at her, with the straightest, most confused face ever, and said “no, it’s a herbivore” 😂 #Autism

My son is autistic & has a limited diet. I got the kids a takeaway but my son wanted something he wouldn’t usually order. My daughter then ordered her brother’s usual order. I asked if she was sure, she said yes, that way if he doesn’t want what he ordered, he can have mine 🥲

My daughter showed me a routine planner app she found for ADHD to ask if she could download it to help her remember things. So when people ask why we want to “label” our children, it’s because at age 10 she already understands her diagnosis & finds ways to help herself

Yesterday was 8 years since my daughter passed away. I didn’t hear from many people & when I did they said they just didn’t know what to say to me. If you don’t know what to say to someone who has lost a child, just say something. It can be lonely. #NationalGriefAwarenessWeek

My son is autistic, he has this new thing where he wants his fish fingers cut up into random bite size pieces, today it was 27 pieces & I don’t think people understand the pressure felt as a parent to do this correctly when they are one of the ten foods he will eat 😅

I often wonder how many children Jo Frost had on her show that were not naughty, but in fact neurodivergent. This is a very stigmatising comment to make for someone with such a large platform. They are not labels, they are a medical diagnosis which brings support for a child.

I don’t think you can comprehend the stress levels of a parent to a child with SEND. There is a misconception that a parents stress is due to their child. This is incorrect, it’s the stress that is felt is from the constant battles to get them what they need and deserve.

If you are out in the holidays at theme parks or events etc & you see children 'skipping the queue', these children are disabled & have been given accommodations to enjoy their day, its not a perk, its a need. If they 'look ok' its literally because they didn't have to queue

Lots of autistic children vocal stim. Vocal stims, like humming, stimulate the vagus nerve & the parasympathetic nervous system to help bring calm. You should never stop a child stimming in any form, they are self regulating in their own way, which if you ask me is pretty clever

The way autistic girls are treated & unsupported because they tend to present differently to boys & mask is beyond me at this point. Just because you can’t see it doesn’t mean it isn’t there. No wonder they get to their teens & break. Nothing proactive about this system

Kinda love that the press knew he had been twice, but waited for his mates to tweet their support before burning them all down to the ground with the second release 😂 #DominicCummngs

Just been told my daughter is going to specialist provision for secondary school. I have never been more exhausted or stressed ensuring this happens. So pleased for her, stress isn’t over I’m sure as we wait for start dates etc, but it’s a yes.

When you have a disabled child and you meet another parent with a disabled child you automatically become friends. It’s like a secret club where you can make friends for life in seconds.

I just learnt that the average person falls to sleep in 10-20 minutes. Must be nice 😂

My son turned 5 today. He is at the core of everything I do, I’m so grateful for him & all that he’s taught me. He’s achieved so much in a year, I couldn’t be prouder of him! Happy birthday little man #Autism 🦖💙

I really don’t like these, why do children need a blue bucket for people to be understanding towards them? It will just make them feel different even more so. Why should they change their bucket colours to make others comfortable. Can we cancel this idea please #Autism

This is what Christmas may look like for autistic children…two days later some gifts still under the tree due to being overwhelmed. Some happy moments, some moments of struggle but it’s their day too & if they can’t, I’ll never make them, it’s not about being ungrateful #Autism

You want to blame parents for their children being autistic? Mine are the most loving, caring, happy children & if that’s my fault then that’s that fine by me 👍🏻
