The continued effort to deny systemic racism perpetuates stereotypes of racial inferiority. Audit studies unequivocally show that despite the laws in place there’s discrimination in hiring decisions.

Black history is essential, not a burden. Black parents already carry that work. There are other ways to lessen the burden on teachers. Using the viewpoint of others to disparage 1619 would be against the proposed legislation.

It’s all good to celebrate Utah’s success relative to others states, but the redistribution of taxpayer dollars to private/religious schools does not preserve and improve our public school system that brings different SES backgrounds together, unlike private schools.
#utpol
There’s a reason Utah leads the nation in upward mobility and the American Dream. But we must work to preserve and improve institutions that bring people of different socio-economic backgrounds together. Social capital matters.
It’s great to see people in leadership speaking out against bigotry. If we are to change the culture of prejudice & bias, & the violence that comes from it, then we need more leaders speaking out like this.
