@Cody_CHGO Right, I am biased clearly but most of the signs say Cubs. But then again why is it taking so damn long especially when there was serious smoke last week? I assume is Boras trying to save face after Alonso's deal.

@FullCountTommy I keep going back and forth. At this point I think am fine either way. But then I see this tweet which makes me wonder again.

It should be talked about more how much of a demon Alex Bregman was the final two months of the season. .281/.326/.557, .371 wOBA, 146 wRC+ 1.7 fWAR (6.2 fWAR/150 pace) 10.5% barrel, 45.5% hard hit 12 HR in 41 GP

@jacobzanolla I will say yes as long as the return helps the Cubs win this season and it isn't a salary dump. For example this has been mentioned but I would definitely say yes if the return is someone like Clarke Schmidt. A lower cost starting pitcher with multiple years of control.

@bleedcubbieblue He is 40 but he has been an above average hitter for the last decade. He is a great fit to back up Michael Busch who was a league average hitter in the 2nd half. Turner performs just as well against RHP and LHP plus his K% is below league average. He would be a great bench bat.

@joekilgallon Love this idea. I would 100% go to Denver to watch them in August.

@DEvanAltman Would I be happy if the Cubs go Bregman? Yes but IMO Turner is a better fit especially with the fallout of trading Nico. Busch was a league average hitter in the 2nd half so Turner would be a great backup and as you mentioned just a solid bat for spot starts or off the bench.

@jacobzanolla @realcubsinsider Man I would be pretty darn happy if the Cubs get Bregman or Turner to round out the off-season! I know Turner is 40 but he had a 117 wRC+ last year

@capihood @Cubies1986 @BleacherNation Of course not but it's reality that guys will get injured. Happ, Bellinger, and Seiya all missed time last year with a variety of injuries so you can't have too much quality depth. The lack of bench and bullpen depth has really burned this Cubs team over the last 2 seasons.

@capihood @Cubies1986 @BleacherNation Clearly he has tons of opportunities given it's Feb 10th and he still doesn't have a job. So Happ, Tucker, and, Busch Seiya will be perfectly healthy for all 162 and no depth or pinch hitters will be needed. The Cubs are so good they don't need quality bench pieces. Got it 👍

@Cubies1986 @BleacherNation Mark Canha would cost very little and he had a 124 wRC+ vs LHP in 2024 so he would be a great compliment to Busch at 1B. He can also play the corner OF spots if needed and had 1 start at 3B in 2024.

@Cody_CHGO Front offices have gotten wise to his tactics after getting burned over the years. Elite guys are always going to get paid but teams will not pay above market value especially long term for middle to upper tier players near 30. Just ask Belli, Alonso, Montgomery, Santander...

@NSideTerritory @sahadevsharma If the Cubs don't get Bregman how do you see them using the available payroll? It seems really risky to me going in with only Busch at 1B. Canha or Turner would make a lot of sense to back him up. Berti's first start at 1B was in the playoffs last season.

@TheKingSource @TheWrigleyWire 5 years $150M would get it done so just do it Jed! The Cubs are at 4, he wants 6, meet in the middle exceeding the $28.5M mark he made this season and he is a Cub.

@HotStoveCubbies Pivetta could be a great addition to the rotation because he misses bats. He had 172 Ks in just 145 IP, he doesn't walk a lot of guys, and had an expected era of 3.51 last year. The QO offer has killed his market so it could be a great value IMO.

@ballskwok You could be right with how well he performed in the AZFL but that would be risky to rely on a 22 year old who hasn't been above AA. The kid can flat out hit though!
