As we officially change the guard today from Joe Maddon to David Ross, it feels fitting to throw it back to one of Joe's classiest moves as the Cubs manager: Removing David Ross mid-inning so he could receive a standing ovation in his final reg season game at Wrigley.

@CubsJoeMadd
loves 'The Office'. We love 'The Office'. So we put together a quick intro for a new show, 'The Offense'. (Obv wouldn't have been possible w/o
@cubs
incredible Bryzzo videos).
Three years ago tonight, Javy Báez launched a game-winning home run off Johnny Cueto to give the Cubs a 1-0 lead in the 2016 NLDS.
For those who may have forgotten, the Cubs would go on to win the 2016 World Series.
As we bid farewell to the Cubs on WGN, a little
#fbf
to perhaps
@LenKasper
’s best call and an all-time great Cubs moment that, of course, aired on WGN.
A fond farewell and THANK YOU to Jake Arrieta. His time with the Cubs:
- 68 wins from 2013-2017
- 2015 NL Cy Young Award
- 2-0 in 2016 WS
- 2016 World Series Champion
- 2 no hitters
A short video could never do it justice, but here's our way of saying thanks.
The angles/speeds are not exactly the same, but I think this side by side view of Kyle Schwarber from last August and today (via
@cubs
) illustrates just how big a transformation he has made this offseason.
Three years ago today Anthony Rizzo led the Chicago Cubs into Wrigley Field holding the Commissioner’s Trophy the night the Cubs raised the banner for winning the 2016 World Series.
#FlashbackFriday
He took Gerrit Cole into the Allegheny. He took the Cardinals deep onto the video board. He came back from what should have been a season ending injury to help the Cubs win the 2016 World Series.
He was our left fielder. Thanks for everything, Kyle.
From draft pick, to ROY, to MVP, to World Series Champion.
Kris Bryant will forever be one of the best to ever wear a Chicago Cubs uniform. Thank you for everything, Kris.
@KrisBryant_23
After Max Fried gave up 2 runs in Boston tonight, we have a change atop the NL ERA leaderboard.
Ladies and gentleman, allows us to introduce the current ERA leader in the National League: YU DARVISH
In honor of what would have been his 81st birthday today, here is Ron Santo learning his number would be retired by the Chicago Cubs back in 2003.
Happy birthday, Ron. We love you. We miss you.
Three years ago today, Kris Bryant gave the Cubs a 1-0 lead in Game 6 of the 2016 World Series. The Cubs would win 9-3, forcing a decisive Game 7.
In case you forgot what happened in Game 7, I’m sure the entirety of Cubs Twitter will be happy to remind you tomorrow!
On this day in 2015, Jake Arrieta took the mound in Pittsburgh for the 2015 NL Wild Card Game.
After replying to Pirates fans on twitter with "whatever helps keep your hope alive, just know, it doesn't matter," Arrieta tossed a complete game shutout with 11 strikeouts.

100 days! Thanks for following along. For such an occasion, enjoy a montage of Javy being Javy. A minute of lightning fast tags, incredible defense, and magical slides.

Today feels like a good day to flashback to Yu Darvish’s 14 strikeout effort against the Padres in September.
A reminder, Yu posted a 2.76 ERA with a 118:7 K:BB rate in 81.2 IP in the 2nd half. He is also our Twitter King.
The crowd grows silent with the pitch as the ball gets put into play. The intensity grows as KB moves toward the ball. And, finally, the roar of thousands of Cubs fans in attendance after the final out.
Never gets old.

Javy takes John Lackey deep to give the Cubs the lead in Game 4 of the 2015 NLDS. The Cubs would go on to win this game, eliminating the Cardinals.
We were reminded by
@BleacherNation
that today is the anniversary of Wade Davis closing out the NLDS victory over Washington in 2017.
That means it’s also the anniversary of one of the greatest interviews in Cubs history with Jon Lester
As he returns to the Wrigley Field mound tonight for the first time, wanted to re-share our farewell/tribute vid to Jake Arrieta.
Forever a Chicago Cubs great and World Series Champion. Thank you
@JArrieta34
, and welcome back.
"I love this city and everything we have done here. The fans, the people, the hospitality we get in Chicago...I feel like Chicago is home for me...Obviously, it is no secret I want to be a Cub for my whole career.” - Anthony Rizzo
Happy Birthday to our captain,

June 2019. KB has been hit by multiple pitches in the series, Cole Hamels was hit, and one batter earlier Rizzo was hit.
Enter El Mago for proper retaliation.

Ben Zobrist is back in the Cubs lineup for the first time since May 6th.
Feels like a good time to remind everyone that Ben was the MVP of the 2016 World Series, which was won by the Chicago Cubs.

After trailing 10-2 earlier, Javy’s bases clearing double ties things at 10. The Cubs scored 9 runs in the inning, all with 2 outs, en route to a 14-10 W.

OTD in 2015:
The Cubs eliminate the Cardinals and move on to the NLCS.
Pat Hughes delivers one of his most iconic calls as Héctor Rondón gets the final out.
The veteran. The lefthander. Number 34. BDJ.
- 2 ASG appearances
- 1 NLCS MVP
- 77-44 w/ a 3.64 ERA overall
- 2.44 ERA in 12 Playoff games
- 1 World Series Championship
Thank you for everything, Jon Lester. Forever a Chicago Cubs legend.

Javy Báez, the best shortstop in Chicago, uses the swim move slide to avoid the tag and steal second.

Good morning! The Cubs and Cardinals meet at Wrigley Field this afternoon.
Time to get HYPED by watching the Cubs knock STL out of the 2015 playoffs (they haven’t been back since), accompanied by one of Pat Hughes best calls.
