Well the greater absurdity is the term 'ethnic Russians' in Ukraine when referring to Russian speakers. There are many misunderstandings some even promoted by foreigners who lived in Ukraine who insisted there was no need to learn Ukrainian 🙃

Yeah sorry not a haven of SVR or GRU there. There are a number of Russian assets in Halifax but not there. One ‘sponsored’ a Russia/Ukraine course I taught at the big Uni there in 2014 and then tried to disrupt it with genocidal language on Ukrainians. Wasn’t having that.

Saddened to learn Andriy Nikolaychuk, dep commander of Ukraine’s 93rd Mechanized Brigade, was killed yesterday in recently liberated area of Kharkiv Oblast. I took these photos of him when we were at the frontline just south of Izyum in May. He’s survived by his wife and 3 kids.

Having lived through Ruble collapse in USSR it will be devastating for the population of Russia. The contract soldiers are earning 3200 a month plus 300 combat pay which is now less than a dollar a day. This war will ruin Russia and throw away lives for nothing.

Latest casualties numbers from UA MoD - 4312 Russians killed and 768 PoWs. Many of the dead were burnt beyond recognition. Min Defence has opened hotlines for Russian parents. Kharkiv and Kyiv are still fully in Ukrainian hands.

How can you make any assessment? There isn’t any clear picture of how it is going. Russian Telegram channels are showing that it is not going well for units there and yes any 🇺🇦offensive is going to be won with heavy losses but remains to be seen what the actual sitrep is.
