You always need different opinions. It allows humanity to explore vs. exploit and make progress in a lot of different directions.

step 1 - have people with different opinions in a single place step 2 - actually debate the issues * this is not done nearly enough to actually test ideas * often I find the best debates are first among friends where you have a higher loyalty and thus capacity to understand

In the meantime, more and more individuals are realizing that preventative healthcare (or medicine 3.0 as @PeterAttiaMD says), is actually what they want. Interesting unfilled need I think, which keeps getting larger.

100%, I have many doctor friends, and it baffles me that this is how medicine is taught in Europe. They basically say that if everyone wanted preventative healthcare, there wouldn’t be enough space for people who are actually sick. Let’s break that down 1.This is basically the government admitting they can’t care for everyone If a country can’t handle citizens who want basic preventative healthcare, they’re admitting they don’t have the resources And if they don’t have the resources, they don’t have the money In countries like Belgium, the Netherlands, and other north European countries, they disguise this problem by saying, “Preventative care isn’t practical.” But the reality? Even with taxes over 50%, they still can’t afford to care for their citizens properly And every year, the national debt keeps growing. This isn’t about healthcare—it’s about countries being manage poorly by the leaders 2.Preventative care reduces the burden on the system If preventative healthcare were done right, there wouldn’t be as many sick people It’s not rocket science. Less illness means fewer people needing expensive treatments Instead of reacting to problems, why not focus on avoiding them? 3.Prevention is cheaper than cure A better lifestyle : healthier food, regular exercise, social connections, can prevents so many problems before they start The state should invest in helping people achieve this Make regular checkups mandatory and free If you’re taxing people this much, shouldn’t the money go toward keeping them healthy in the first place?? Europe’s approach to medicine feels backwards Prevention is dismissed not because it doesn’t work but because governments aren’t willing to fund it

Kafka of the week: None of the Belgian state-run trains will have WiFi. The supposed cost of €160M (🤡) is too much. Meanwhile, the same government spent €480M on a trainstation for a town with less than 100k inhabitants. It looks like an airport 😂
