@markcecchini “It’s about balance that gives you peace of mind today and security tomorrow.” This is it. So well said. Oftentimes our job is to help people make it to the peace of mind state, and that’s a different path for everyone. The very best advisors are very good at this.

@averagejoelle @dougboneparth Ahh. The dreaded, life-threatening man cold. It makes total sense now. This Douglas is wise. Keep it coming while the portal is open.

@ScottTruhlar @DanielYerger3 @mountainwesttax I totally understand that. I did the math and made assumptions as to what would cover an in-state public university. There will be some money left over and I plan to use it for med school for one of our knuckleheads or use it for grandchildren.

@DanielYerger3 @mountainwesttax @ScottTruhlar As a financial advisor who currently has one kid at UMICH and one at MSU I am delighted that we funded a 529 early and often. It feels magical.

@DanielYerger3 @mountainwesttax @ScottTruhlar I’m curious as to why folks seem to be discounting the value of tax free growth (for college) in 529’s relative to a JT account and gifting? What am I missing?

@markcecchini Been doing it monthly since Dec of 2007. It’s made a world of positive impact for me psychologically, especially in times when markets decline and I see my contributions help offset those declines. Also really helpful to see the snap back when the good times roll again.

@TheJacobTurner @chrisjuliencpa Same. And after 15 years my wife and I now have hundreds of thousands that will never be taxed. That’s a pretty sweet deal. People vastly underestimate the future value of small contributions consistently applied.

@TheJacobTurner It always surprises me when I talk to peers that choose not to do it. And frankly, I see more that skip than that do it. Nonsensical.
