Though rare, when a dog kills healthy pups it can be because they do not recognize their pups.
They can turn on their puppies out of stress or lack of maternal recognition.
Such dogs should be culled and not used for breeding. She's a bad mother.

The first time I cried over a dog was when I lost my beloved Smart. I think I was this boy’s age too. She died out of complications in giving birth right in my arms.
That’s one of the reasons I am a vet today. To prevent such tears from amazing people.

Dogs too can suffer from Hepatitis called Infectious Canine Hepatitis caused by canine adenovirus 1. Transmission is via ingestion of feces, urine or saliva of an infected dog. Death is high in puppies.
Could happen along with Parvo
Preventable via vaccination which is DHLPP.
