Oops! Cat is out of the bag. Most of us have complained that Covid isolation of 24 hours is too short. Now someone actually collected data. The MEDIAN time for Covid recovery is 20 DAYS! MEDIAN excludes all the LC cases (worst 22.3%). 50%, not 95% recovered in 20 days.

@LauraMiers The "don't need to protect myself" crowd need to review their wills too. Compared to first infections, people with re-infections have a 2.2x greater risk of death and 3.3x greater risk of hospitalization.

@danaparish On the plus side, it doesn't work by stimulating the immune system - it blocks the virus directly, like a monoclonal antibody. So it could be helpful to immune compromised.

If you take SARS-COV-2 seriously, you have quarantine hotels and study any spread within the hotels. Taiwan found it can spread through ceilings and floors! h/t to CDC for sharing

Living a #Covid aware life is basically being the only sober on a party where everyone else is completely shit-faced. In a constant state of wtf are you doing stop pissing in the fridge.

BA.4 and BA.5 are here (around 2% and growing) and are significantly more contagious than BA.2.12.1. Now would be a great time for a mask mandate, as well as ending indoor dining and bars. Our lives are worth it.

We now have enough co-circulation of Omicron sub-lineages BA.4, BA.5 and BA.2.12.1 in the US to make an assessment of relative fitness between these viruses. 1/12

I completely agree with Laz on this. Low CO2 in a room does not mean the person next to you is not blowing virus into your face. Keep the mask on

His risk continuum is his. I am NOT criticizing him. But having read every single SARS-COV-2 transmission study available world-wide? There is no way that I would let CO2 levels lift or lower my N95. Three words - Near Field Aerosols. They rule indoors or outdoors. /1

You've been told over and over that the "vast majority" of Covid deaths are unvaccinated. Finally the CDC is giving numbers, and "vast majority" is only about 81% and as low as 70% in state data. This is not a pandemic for only the unvaccinated. Demand better protection.

@RadioFreeTom @mehdirhasan @MediawatchNw @saletan Vaccines are critical and effective, but vaccinated people ARE dying. The CDC and state data I’ve found consistently show that, out of raw death totals, ~20-30% were vaccinated. Below is from the CDC, showing 19%. Some state data shows even higher proportions of vaccinated dead.

@danaparish Not a word about Covid in the article. One of the most amazing artists of our time struck down at 55, and nobody is going to learn anything from this. I guess this is what is so "mild" about Omicron; it kills with strokes, heart attacks, sudden death and PE, and escapes blame.

@EricTopol Eric, positivity is appreciated, but you are too informed to not know the reality behind this - that the states with the earliest BA.2 dominance (eg NY and MA) are already spiking in cases, and hospitalizations are a lagging indicator.

Here in the US, we have been told repeatedly that "we have the tools" to keep the pandemic at a "manageable level". There are only two problems with that lie: (1) What is a manageable number of deaths (or disability)?, and (2) Is there any evidence that we have managed it?

@MrsGong3 My total time to get drivers license renewed was 50 minutes. I had taken the written test online before I arrived. The photo was my last step and it was really inspiring to be treated so well!

@MeetJess China will now be the only superpower financially and industrially. They are the only govt that stuck with ZeroCovid. It is like the US after WWII. We were the only industrial country left functional

@Theresa_Chapple "her" totally swallowed the "we have the tools to protect the people" line. Repeat the lie enough and it becomes the truth. Magical. It's as though our leaders studied Hitler, or at least Trump.
