Great thread
at almost every threshold there are a bunch of people who set up a basecamp where they discuss how to cross the threshold. some of those people do go on to cross the threshold, but those people tend to then become incomprehensible to most of those who are still in basecamp

If we had a flat tax on everyone at 15%, (even ignoring the $50k carve out) it would likely increase the deficit by about $425b… you could cut the whole IRS and still be $400b worse off, deficit-wise. You would need to cut 75% of non-defense discretionary spending, including likely public school funding, transportation, NASA, EPA, CDC, law enforcement funding like FBI, plus FEMA, Veterans affairs, etc.. tough cuts. IDK if 15% is really realistic with all that.
