We partake OF the Divine Nature but not IN the Divine Nature. As in, we don’t/can’t partake in the same Divine essence as the Godhead. We only partake OF it for the purification of our souls and the remission of sins. We can find this in our liturgy as well.

You’re clearly uneducated on this topic. Pope Shenouda excommunicated George Bebawi from the Church completely. The only reason why he came back into communion was because of his deathbed letter sent to Pope Tawadros which Pope Tawadros granted out of generosity.

First of all, Sadat put Pope Shenouda into exile so their relationship was awful and he was, again, forced to say these things because at the end of the day, Copts were going to be affected by what he said.

In the FULL speech, he talks about how Christians and Muslims should be able to live peacefully together and that God is love. Please, if you don’t know the context behind a story, don’t talk about it and act like you know what’s going on. You are misguiding others by doing that.

Dr. Atef Aziz and Max Michel are good examples. There are local excommunications as well, some are more famous than others. I think you should prioritize your own salvation before looking at others. Choosing to use the Church when it benefits you isn’t getting you to heaven

Do you have any idea what you’re talking about? Pope Shenouda never denied theosis. In fact, Pope Shenouda affirmed theosis and he commissioned MULTIPLE books that talked about it. What HH actually condemned was the notion that humans can partake in the Divine Nature.

No he was not mistaken about this topic as this is a true misunderstood teaching that leads to heresy! Pope Shenouda was explicitly teaching against humans becoming part of the Godhead. This is an extremely big teaching in Protestantism, Pope Shenouda saved us by condemning it.

Matthew the Poor was in the patriarchate elections twice, but neither times was he “rejected” because of his mystical teachings. The first time he didn’t meet the age requirements, and the second time Pope Shenouda was chosen.

What’s the problem with this quote? Don’t misunderstand, it’s not possible for us humans to be part of the Godhead. Isaiah 42:8 “I am the LORD, that is My name; And My glory I will not give to another.” Pope Shenouda clears the definitions of deification, here are some answers:

Finally, any Matthew the Poor apologist is not well-versed about him and Pope Shenouda did the Coptic community justice by banning his books as they contained heretical teachings, as well as painted the Church in a negative light in a country full of Muslims. God bless.

Pope Shenouda was never mistaken about this topic. Sure, there is no difference in the Greek, but even Fr Tadros recounts Dr Maurice saying, “in Arabic there are some possibilities.” Pope Shenouda was speaking Arabic, not Greek, hence why he was preventing heresy in Arabic.
