The ones near the goals are like a penalty area. Fouls inside these are penalised a bit heavier.
If a team puts a ball out over their own goal-line, the opposition get a free strike from the 65 yard line (either side of the halfway line). So the equivalent of a corner in soccer.

So many stitches and subsequent scars, 2 concussions, front teeth knocked out, hurley broken across my back at 16 which has kindly manifested in back problems in my 40’s. But all part and parcel of the game, and no-one’s fault. Awful precedent to set, insurance costs will soar!

What do you want Wooly, old fashioned manager and 2 selectors? Managers wife washes the shirts? Selector has a first aid kit? Limerick have been very clear that the underage panels’ job is to prepare players for senior. Why not create a setup that’s mirrored all the way up/down.

2 clubs doing a lot of things right on the local scene. Hurling in the city is not going as well as it is in the county. A heap of competition from club rugby and soccer. So fair fucks if they find a way to make their club more appealing to their underage members.
