A few years ago, my gf and I adopted our dog Lucy from a rescue shelter in Oakland. She was overbred and found in a truck yard wandering for food.
Two years later, the same shelter reached out because another dog looked exactly like Lucy (which is not a common look). We adopted
I talk to dozens of newsletter operators weekly. They often ask for my favorite resources in the newsletter space.
Here are 5 newsletters that I find myself sharing most often:
Last month, I earned $5,020.40 for recommending other newsletters through the SparkLoop Partner Network.
There's *never* been an earning opportunity like this for new newsletter operators.
A lot of the newsletter operators I talk to want to outsource ad sales.
I think *most* could easily do it themselves.
How to add tens of thousands in revenue (or more) with newsletter ads:
The best paid recommendations network just got better...
@SparkLoopHQ
now pays out partners every week 💰
1. Recommend top media brands & creators
2. Get paid every week
3. Re-invest earnings in growth
(and the set up takes 10 minutes)
After two months of running a Partner Program with
@SparkLoopHQ
, I see a 58% open rate from the subscribers I've paid for.
- Lower CPA than Facebook
- Better engagement than Facebook
- Less management than Facebook
Just increased my budget.
Each week, I talk to 20+ newsletter operators. They often ask for my favorite resources in the space.
Here are some of the newsletters I share most often:
I created a newsletter clarity checklist that includes 25 questions to help you better write, grow, and monetize your newsletter.
Like & reply "checklist" and I'll DM you access.
Just spoke with a newsletter operator who is adding 200+ subscribers organically each day.
They're joining the

They will earn six-figure revenue annually with about 15 minutes of work.
One of my favorite new features in a while...

The newsletter industry is filled with some of the most interesting people I've ever met.
Experts across just about every category you can imagine.
Super supportive of other people in the space.
We're all lucky to be a part of it.
@JMatthewMcGarry
You do great work and practically every newsletter operator I talk to has benefitted from it in one way or another (myself included). Keep crushing 🤝
Newsletters have been around for decades.
The bad newsletters won't make it. Most will stop publishing consistently.
The good newsletters will keep going. Owning your audience will continue to be valuable.
I live in the Bay Area and wore my Sacramento Kings hat this morning to pick up some coffee.
Three different people commented:
"I'm jealous!"
"I want that hat!"
"The Kings are good!"
What the hell is this feeling???
In the past, getting readers to find your newsletter has been hard.
Social platforms and search engines promote creators's content, but email platforms don't.
But the discoverability problem is getting easier.
With
@SparkLoopHQ
Partner Programs, you can reach thousands of

When getting started, ask: “how can I make running more fun?” Do whatever you need to do to slowly add on more miles and enjoy it, regardless of pace.
@prodHackers
One common principle I’ve seen is the important of consistency (at least in the content game). Most people stop before 10 newsletters, blog posts etc. Keep producing, learning, and improving and results will compound over time.
If you're not already, go out of your way to have calls with other folks in the newsletter industry.
Don't ask for favors, just connect with other operators.
The most successful newsletter businesses are boosted by relationships with other creators.
Newsletter revenue stream I'm bullish on:
Job boards
@banklessHQ
and
@lennysan
are two great examples
LinkedIn job posts lead to hundreds of BS applications.
A job post in a targeted industry newsletter? That's gold.
The cost to add a new subscriber to your list is not the same as your cost per *engaged* subscriber.
One of our newsletters was adding new subs from Meta at $1.00 (quite low).
They told me their target engagement metrics and I asked: "How many new subscribers from Meta does it
This happens every week.
I describe how
@SparkLoopHQ
Partner Programs work.
Long-time newsletter operators are blown away they get to pay a fixed CPA (of their choice) for new subscribers that meet their chosen engagement expectations (or better).
It's really common for people to show an investment calculator and say: "look how rich you'll be! it's so easy!"

I started using
@SparkLoopHQ

The payout I received today (not the $41K shown - I wish) covers my media buying costs for the last month (and then some).

The coolest part of working at

is learning what the most sophisticated newsletter operators are having success with.
I'm reviewing 2024 growth plans with clients and have a few spots left before the end of the year.
Comment or DM if you want to chat!
Some highlights that
@SparkLoopHQ
users shared this week:
→ 61% open rate and 17.91% click rate from Partner Program
→ Offset 100%+ of Meta ad costs with Upscribe
→ Covered 100%+ of Partner Program spend in month 1 from purchases
There's no better platform for newsletters.
Spoke with a publisher who is starting to move 8M Facebook active page members to their newsletter.
They're going to show
@SparkLoopHQ
Upscribe after their sign-up.
They will easily make 6-figure revenue just for moving their audience from one platform to another.
Had dinner with a family member and they asked me why I started writing my newsletter.
The answer is simple:
I worked incredibly hard to get out of debt and improve my life, and I think others will benefit from what I've learned.
Without paid recommendations, my growth would have been *significantly* slower.
Learn how I use paid recommendations to earn and offset my paid growth spend (only ~15 minutes of set up) 👇
I'm not a Twitter pro by any means, but if you're a reply guy/gal and you're just saying "cool," "great insight," or anything else that adds no value, you're going to have a lot harder time making relationships on here (which is the main perk of this dumb site)
Creators who support other creators are more likely to succeed.
Engage thoughtfully, go to conferences, join communities, and be supportive.
If you do that for a year, your life will be drastically different.
Junto is now a weekly newsletter.
This gives me more time to write new content.
This gives readers more time to digest the tips I share in each email.
20 editions in, and I'm only getting started.
There's a new growth tool that smart newsletter operators are using to add *thousands of engaged subscribers* to their lists each month.
And you can use it too.

Beyond the tactics I learned years ago from your book, the most important lesson I’ve taken from your work is to appreciate the complicated, subtle psychological factors that affect how we behave and think about money.
Oftentimes knowing the tactics isn’t sufficient.
How to get engaged readers at a fixed CPA 👇

1. Set your CPA
2. Set your engagement criteria
3. Get recommended by high-quality newsletters
4. Only keep/pay for engaged subscribers

The newsletter that solves specific problems for specific people is almost always a better business than the big newsletter about a little of everything.
Two things I believe about paid acquisition for newsletters:
→ If you're running paid traffic to a lander, you should run

→ If you're serious about quality, you should test a

Two metrics you should know:
→ Revenue per subscriber
→ Payback period
How much do you earn from an engaged subscriber, and how long does it take to make it?
Once you know this, you can grow much faster.
1. The Kings are playing better than the Warriors this series.
2. Sabonis could have been protecting his face, but it looked like a grab. Technical was deserved.
3. Green didn’t need to stomp on Sabonis, stand on a chair, and yell obscenities at fans. Suspension is deserved.

Spoke to a newsletter operator yesterday whose welcome sequence lasts for 10 years.
Some operators opt for a single welcome email and others have complex conditional segmentation and automation.
How many emails are in your welcome sequence?
The newsletter metric that matters the most is revenue.
If you're looking at other metrics, they should all point back to revenue.
Low open rate? Leads to lower revenue.
Low click rate? Leads to lower revenue.
These metrics don't matter that much when viewed in isolation.
Super interesting interview with
@MattBrownEP
on the Send & Grow podcast.
Matt's newsletter business is so unique - this is a great listen if you're looking for inspiration for your newsletter.
No one thinks about you as much as you think they do.
It sounds harsh, but it's actually liberating.
Optimize for what increases your satisfaction, not how you perceive others will think of you.

A SparkLoop Partner Program is the best tool for growing your newsletter with engaged readers 📈
A lot of newsletter operators don't understand the relationship between revenue and growth.
If you're not earning enough or fast enough, your growth will be severely limited.
"Your income, your savings rate, your asset allocation, portfolio expenses, and staying the course in a bad bear market matter.
Timing the market, security selection, and short-term returns don’t matter that much in the long run."
