How on earth do Floridians continue to get hit by trains. There’s a quad-gate. There’s a no turn on red sign. The train is blaring it’s horn.
And then news outlets will still blame Brightline…
This incident happened earlier today. We want to remind everyone to behave safely around railroad tracks. Driving around the gates is a dangerous and illegal act that not only places you at risk but also endangers the passengers and crew.

A Lyft would make the same trip in 35-50 mins depending on traffic, but cost a minimum of $35 (usually a lot more in my experience).
Future improvements to the line (and future I-45 BRT) could get bus times down.

With the news of an Amtrak/Texas Central cooperation, it begs the question of how they will integrate their service. TC's station is miles from the existing Amtrak station and off the line used by the Sunset Limited. Similar issues in DFW.

These numbers mean that each train is AVERAGING 109 passengers travelling to or from Orlando. Thats 44% of each train.
October Brightline ridership is already trending higher, however. From Oct. 1-16, the passenger railroad carried 104,322 riders, of which 40,219 were to Orlando.
Brightline's Orlando extension opened Sept. 22, and ridership has yet to normalize.

Cleveland proposed to purchase new high-floor LRVs to unify it’s rail fleet. This could open up new service options. Similar LRVs operate in San Francisco and Calgary.

If CHSR is going to use federal dollars to purchase these trains, it’s likely only one company, one that is actively making high speed trains capable of 220 mph, would be willing to make a measly 6 trains.
CAHSR is releasing a Request for Qualification to find contractors capable of delivering high speed trains.
Target 2028 to begin testing, 2030 for service.
