Totally understand Nev. Trump often acts as a stress test on the system. Sometimes this is a good thing, sometimes it is not. But we are all subjected to the test somewhat. And we don’t all pass the test all the time. I know I don’t!

Fair enough! TBH, I sympathize with you about Americanisation. I obviously don’t mind it myself, but I totally get why it annoys you. But at least you’ll be pleased to hear that my salary is not exactly fat - especially on a “per hour” basis. So that’s one less thing to resent!

For what it’s worth, I don’t actually think she sounded canned outside her first response. She pretty clearly rehearsed everything she said, but I thought that was to her credit. I wasn’t critiquing that at all. I criticize Trump for NOT showing discipline and preparation.

To be clear I’m happy to call something a lie when I am 100% sure it is an intentional telling of a mistruth. But I don’t know why people wouldn’t want a fact checker to be as precise with their language as possible!

FWIW that is leaving out Harris’ “misleading” and “needs context” statements, which can be v.deceptive + I can think of 2 Harris lies off the top of my head. Her “worst unemployment since the depression” lie and her “depriving couples of ivf” lie. The ivf one was bad, I reckon.

Oh, I see. Please ask if you’re curious - I’m nothing if not an open book! I don’t like using the word “lie” (in a spoken context when characters don’t matter) unless I’m 100% sure it is an intentional deception. I try to be as precise with language as I can be.

I don’t feel like I gave Trump a pass at all. The whole episode I critiqued his performance and said Harris did well. I just try to use relatively restrained language on tv.
