@ReviewsPossum Agreed. I think this is a consequence of the stereotypical "restrained feminine" culture though. Women who do less hands-on work and have too much time to worry about their looks and social standing cause trouble. Such petty behavior is less common in ranch girls, for instance.

@OculusImperia Toured a bison ranch once. The guide said he's had more than one visitor have a panic attack when they go out into the fields and can't see any buildings or roads or power lines. Totally disoriented them. Made them feel like they had been on a spacewalk and the tether got cut.

@vlntnegrl My grade 3 teach knew poor students would be demotivated by this, while good students might get a big head. She tried to be clever by making it easier for poor students to move up, but harder for good students. This wound up teaching all of us that nothing we did really mattered.

@SaiyanFinance My proposal is a return to multi-generational housing. Retirees would love to help watch the grandkids, I'd wager. Hell of a lot cheaper than daycare and retirement homes. Sure, working adults won't have the fantasy shown in magazines and TV shows, but that was hogwash anyway.
