I’ve shared with several people that I decided to step away as a coach at LCS. I’m so thankful for the players and people I got to work with, as well as the other coaches and players I met these past couple of years. It was a great experience.

I give this kid a hard time, but couldn’t be prouder. He helped keep everyone calm when they were getting him onto the stretcher, told everyone helping thank you, and has been mostly positive since. We are thankful for everyone who has cared and prayed for him.

The move to Crete has been great for a lot of reasons, but this is the best. Awesome that Ben is spending a week building homes in Guatemala with his basketball teammates and Mego. Thankful for the Vertins and Ron Sack for making it happen.

End of Week 1: 3 days of practice, 3 games. 2 Ws, 1 L. Thigh contusion, sprained ankle, blisters, hamstring strains, torn ACL (my kid). Tears, confusion, joyful celebrations. Parents/teammates jumping for defense and 3s. Takeaway: God is good always!

Proud parent moment—10 days out from surgery. PT at 7:30 am, then 1st full day at school, helps at practice, announces the girls’ game for the 1st time, then sits and watches her little brother’s game. And laughs a lot. I love her heart.

2024 Ben Ehlers is a name people will find out about this winter. Using his length to get his fourth steal, this time finding a way to score for himself with the nice floater.

I didn’t personally know Coach Feek. But the number of people I know who have been impacted by him is stunning. I have to imagine God saying to him, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

I’m proud of our team. Of our 17 players in 9th, 10th or 11th grades, all of them participated in a spring sport and 16/17 are 3-sport athletes. No better way to learn how to do the hard stuff than competing in sports that aren’t your favorite.

Here’s how you know this kid isn’t just saying words. He comes and watches my kids’ volleyball games, reserve football games, graduation, etc. because he understands that family doesn’t have to be blood. I think of him as my son!
A brother does not mean they have to be blood related. Here at nebraska we are a brother hood. The love and loyalty we have towards each other and this program are like no other. I’m proud to stand and play with the brother to my left and my right and proud to be a blackshirt.

Last night Ellie Apfel didn’t play a second or score a point for

For years, it seems like I see Jerry Stine at every high school sporting event I attend. A true “fixture” in Nebraska high school sports. I’m blessed to have had as many conversations with him as I’ve had and will gladly take a few more!

I watched Alexis do this at high levels all the way until college, as well as be active in other activities and her school. Trust me—you can handle it and make it work.
The best advice I can give to young kids is to play as many sports as you can for as long as you can. These kids are specializing at such a young age, and I feel like a huge part of my success has come from playing different sports! ❤️
