Not sure what the Universe is trying to tell me but our child's Diabetic Alert Service Dog has Type 1 diabetes! I did think it was strange that he has been "alerting" when it's just the two of us (& I do not have Type 1 diabetes). Here he is rocking his continuous glucose monitor

As a diabetic teacher, I can tell you, kids aren’t distracted by my alarms or using my phone/insulin pump during class
I spend 5 min at the beginning of the year explaining that I need food, insulin, & special machines to keep me alive and they ask a few questions
And that’s it

Saw a little boy shopping with his mom. He had an insulin pump hanging off his baseball uniform. I pulled mine out and said, "me too, buddy". His eyes got SO BIG and he yelled for his mom to look. He's only 2 years diagnosed. His mom was happy to hear I'm 15 years in and healthy

I used to hide my insulin pump- a WEEK after a life-changing diagnosis, I was bullied for “talking too much” about my diabetes
Now I wear it on my hip, arm, clipped on the front of my shirt, tank tops w/my sensor out & advocate when asked about it

As a teacher, when kids ask about my CGM sensors or my insulin infusion sets, I'm absolutely glad to give a 5 min crash course on diabetes. Kids LOVE learning about it. Kids are curious. They ask tons of questions. Teach them the truth and not stigmatized lies

Just discovered that when my pump stops delivery because of “zero units left”… it actually means there’s still around 25-30 units left in the cartridge but it doesn’t recognize or use them…. Pulling those babies out with a syringe

Just had a virtual visit with my endo and it went so well! I’m a bad diabetic and forgot to do blood work but I had an A1C of 6.3 in August and she said my numbers/TIR are even better now!! And she told me to feel free to change my settings bc I know myself best omg we love Carol
