@mkowl @theJeremyVine For me it’s the unrelenting need to start spouting statistics about cars whenever someone dares to mention that most of them are a menace to society.

@maisy_mcadam @BBC I didn’t realise S2 was out, thanks for tweeting this!!! And no, absolutely not unreasonable.

@benjyminty @thespikyclub @MikeyCycling …not doing so responsibly, do not need to be there and are not acting lawfully. That’s the bottom line.

This is a controlled scene between consenting adults. The allegations raised about D’Acampo relate to his conduct off-screen, backstage. There is no comparison.
ITV used Gino D’acampo in a sexual way to gain viewers, can you imagine if they did this to a woman ?.. Now, I don’t know what he’s meant to have said or done, it may be bad, I’m just highlighting double standards here… hypocrisy

@benjyminty @thespikyclub @MikeyCycling Cyclists are faster than pedestrians. Bumping shoulders with someone on foot most likely wouldn’t have the same consequences to me as being slammed into by someone cycling at a greater speed.

@MikeyCycling @thespikyclub @benjyminty Now, pavement parking I can’t disagree on. I’m regularly forced into the roads by stationary cars. I’m pro-shared spaces too, because they’re wide! Plenty of room for all. But a pavement isn’t a shared space.

@thespikyclub @benjyminty @MikeyCycling It may be a statistic, but it isn’t a fact that mirrors my day to day experience. Drivers stay where they belong - on the road. Cyclists do not. Therefore, I have a higher chance of being hurt by a cyclist than a driver.

@thespikyclub @benjyminty @MikeyCycling When it comes to my own experiences of how pavement cycling puts me at risk, nobody knows better than me, I’m afraid. Come back to me when the law and the Highway Code are updated to reflect this low risk you speak of and we’ll hash this out further. 👋🏻

@thespikyclub @benjyminty @MikeyCycling Ok, well as someone who has had many near-misses with cyclists on pavements and *checks notes* none with cars on pavements, I’m going to carry on trusting MY perception of hazards and risks when it comes to MY safety. Cyclists are a bigger risk to ME than cars are.

@thespikyclub @benjyminty @MikeyCycling You’ve not shown me anything other than an irrelevant statistic about cars that I didn’t ask for. As you said yourself, the law is the law. Encouraging police forces to use discretion when issuing fines doesn’t actually make it any less unlawful, or any less of a hazard.

@thespikyclub @benjyminty @MikeyCycling My own lived experience with this holds more weight than your opinion, unfortunately.

@thespikyclub @benjyminty @MikeyCycling Cyclists on the pavement are a hazard for pedestrians. It’s an indisputable fact. Whether or not you agree with that fact is none of my concern.

@thespikyclub @benjyminty @MikeyCycling Constantly feeling the need to scream “but what about CARS” like a child having a tantrum every time a pedestrian rightly points out that the negative perception around cyclists isn’t baseless is extremely boring. We just want to be able to use the pavements safely.
