Education is about far more than prospects for our income. It is about our prospects as a society. What sort of people do we want to become? What sort of society do we want to live in? What sort of future do we want for our children and grandchildren?
In today's Mail: @SamGyimah calls for a 'relentless focus on quality' as it emerges courses in the same subjects deliver vastly different salary returns depending on which institution they are taught in.

@PaulGarvey4 I despair at how many of us, the electorate, just consider 'what's in it for me?' and disregard the qn 'what's in it for society?'. How much do we need to lead a decent life? What kind of a society do we want/need?

@Jakdaw09 @AdamBienkov @RBReich Thatcher referred to 'socialist' politics as "the politics of envy", I assume because it promotes a more equitable distribution of wealth. In its place she espoused Free Market Capitalism which in my view is the politics of greed based on a get rich quick, self promoting culture.
