It's not safe to open schools. First of all it is very unrealistic to believe that kids will wear a mask all day. More importantly kids will become orphans if their parents get COVID and die. Kids can also pass it to grandparents. Oh and let's not forget that kids can die too.

The health insurance in Canada is much better than in the USA. I had an uncle that was kicked out of a hospital because his insurance wouldn't pay for a stay beyond 14 days. He died a week later.
It was union fought insurance too.
