Also the whole offense-defense equation
I am dreading the new round of debate about missile defense. It's been 60+ years (40+ from the SDI days). We know that its utility is marginal at best. And in most cases it's physics, not engineering. And still we'll have people coming out to tell us that the Earth is flat etc.

US states that Russia “may have exceeded the deployed warhead limit” under the New START. It was just a matter of time after the inspections and information exchange stopped but the statement puts the issue on the priority list for the incoming Trump administration
🚨The @StateDept has released its latest "Report to Congress on Implementation of the #NewSTART Treaty" for 2024. Key paragraph below which notes that, unlike when the US assessed Russia to have likely stayed within Treaty limits in 2023, Russia might have minimally exceeded them in 2024. The report goes on to say: "Although the United States cannot certify that the Russian Federation is in compliance with the terms of the New START Treaty, it does not determine that Russia’s noncompliance specified in this report threatens the national security interests of the United States."

There are few people that know nuclear security in general and Russian nuclear security in particular as well as Dima, he would be an invaluable hire!
Dear Colleagues and Friends! The program I had supported for 20 years was discontinued some time ago, and my contract was not renewed. I am now looking for a job and would appreciate your help. Please share or reach out. LinkedIn:
