🏥| This week, I told
@wesstreeting
about a resident in Shipley who has been stuck on an NHS waiting list for 18 months and has had to drop out of work.
See his response below👇
Just arriving at my new ‘office’.
Sun’s out. I take that as a good sign. Can’t wait to get started and deliver for the people of the towns and villages of Shipley constituency.
I was born and raised in West Yorkshire and care deeply about our communities.
I am delighted that the members of Shipley constituency have put their trust in me to fight the next election for
@UKLabour
.
Thank you for your support. Together we can win
Feel very privileged to be shadowing
@RachelReevesMP
today. Learning about the constituency side of an MP’s role. Amazing how she juggles it all with responsibilities of Shadow Chancellor.
Growing up in Yorkshire in the 80s, I witnessed the devastating impact of Tory policies. They're at it again and it’s time for change.
That's why I am standing to be MP for Shipley, to speak up for our people in Westminster.
Together we can win 👇
🗃️| It’s pretty surreal to be given your office in Parliament!
When I’m not in the constituency, I’ll be here, working hard to deliver for all across Shipley constituency ✅
Not afraid of my age! I will be 52 this year and am standing for the first time to be an MP. My professional career and life experience will be of huge value and I will use them to deliver for the people of Shipley.
🚨 NEW: Labour's Wes Streeting on criticism that Keir Starmer came into politics too late aged 52
“I think it’s his greatest strength. He has zero tolerance for a lot of the personality politics and the clown show that sometimes characterises Westminster.”

If elected as the next MP for Shipley, I will not have a second or third job. I will also support campaigns like
@GambleWithLives
to ensure that gambling addiction does not ruin more lives.
What a night!
@YvetteCooperMP
inspiring the crowd at my fundraiser. Fantastic to have so much support from friends and former colleagues for my campaign to become the next MP for Shipley.
I am delighted that the members of Shipley constituency have put their trust in me to fight for
@UKLabour
at the next election. Thank you to everyone who took part and to my fellow candidates who ran a strong campaign. I look forward to working with you all.
Congratulations
@annalouisedixon
, the Labour Party candidate for Shipley.
The people of Shipley deserve far better than they have been given by the Conservatives.
Anna will deliver the fresh start that local people deserve.
So excited to see brilliant new Cabinet taking up their jobs. The work begins to get the NHS back on its feet and deliver a National Care Service.
@wesstreeting
Welcome Secretary of State for Health and Social Care
@WesStreeting
.
We look forward to helping you deliver the government’s mission to build an NHS fit for the future.

On my feet again asking a question about the importance of providing access to essential health care for asylum seekers in hotels and commending the work of
@WeAreBevan
founded by a GP from Shipley constituency.
What a day! Loved showing
@wesstreeting
an example of what Labour’s plans for neighbourhood health could look like. Strong primary care linked to the wider community.
Truly inspiring visit to Grange Park Surgery in Burley in Wharfedale with
@DrAnnaDixon
to talk about Labour’s plan bring back the family doctor and make sure everyone can get a GP appointment when they need one.
Shipley has a chance to win change on July 4th by voting for Anna!
The local election results show that people across the Shipley constituency are turning to Labour. We increased our vote share and are now beating the Conservatives.
#GeneralElectionNow
@ShipleyLabour
If elected, I will not have another job. I will work 'full-time' for the people of
#Shipley
in the constituency and in Westminster.
This shows where the current MP's time is spent and where his priorities lie...

@SkyNews
Thank you to Matt from
@CommunityUnion
for joining me today in Shipley. I am proud to be a member of a trade union and a supporter of Labour's New Deal for Working People.
I benefitted from a place on the Jo Cox women in leadership programme founded in Jo’s memory. Her legacy lives on in what will be one of the most diverse parliaments if Labour wins.
@LabourWomensNet
@UKLabour
The work of rebuilding Britain begins today. What an honour to attend the Opening of Parliament.
A packed programme of legislation to deliver on Labour’s promises.
I am on a mission to win
#Shipley
back from the Conservatives so a
@UKLabour
government can deliver on our mission to create a Better Britain with
@Keir_Starmer
as our PM.
I am delighted to be on the shortlist for Shipley. Thank you to local branches,
@UsdawUnion
@CommunityUnion
and the
@CoopParty
Party for your nominations.
I look forward to speaking to members ahead of the hustings on Sunday 31st July.
Am always awestruck by the beauty of Westminster Palace. Hard to imagine it might one day be my place of work. That’s for the people of
#Shipley
to decide.
I am so grateful to everyone who has come out to support me during the campaign. Final push.
If you have time on polling day it’s not too late to sign up.
Support for PR now overwhelming. Let’s show leadership and give democracy a boost.
@Labour4PR
PR conference motions most popular among CLPs for second year running –
@LabourList
It turns out these were hollow promises and the money simply wasn’t there. The new government are having to carefully review all these projects. I am in touch with Ministers to push for the Bingley Pool award to be honoured. I am meeting with the Friends of Bingley Pool soon.
PM with me in Bingley yesterday celebrating the budget funding a new swimming pool after lots of lobbying. The Labour Council ran it down and closed it down. A Conservative MP and Conservative government re-opening it.
Thank you
@RishiSunak
Today is my 1 year anniversary of being selected as the Labour parliamentary candidate for Shipley.
Thanks to everyone who has supported me and for all the positive responses I have had from local people, businesses, and community organisations.
@ShipleyLabour
First steps to delivering on Labour’s commitment to clean up our rivers including the Wharfe and Aire.
I will continue to press Yorkshire Water not to charge customers for upgrades they should have invested in to stop raw sewage dumping.
@CleanIlkley
Can't wait to get to work with this brilliant team of local members to build a winning campaign in Shipley.
Together we can win.

🌹| Delighted to be in attendance at
#LabourConference24
The first time in 19 years we have had a sitting Labour MP for Shipley constituency at conference.
Looking forward to the rest of the week!
#ChangeBegins
At the Shipley hustings I spoke about the sort of MP I hope to be: unite our communities, work hard everyday and speak up for you.
If you want change. Vote for it. Vote Labour tomorrow. 4th July.
Another busy weekend out on the doorsteps of Shipley and Bingley talking to voters. Many are fed with the state of the country and want change. They want a government that will tackle climate crisis and cost of living.
@UKLabour
for a fairer, greener future.
Last night I walked along the Covid Memorial Wall and reflected on the many lives lost. It is important we learn the lessons on resilience and preparedness. Today I spoke in Parliament asking we don’t forget those who still suffer.
Congratulations
@TracyBrabin
Absolutely delighted to have you back as
@WYMayor
to continue to deliver the amazing change you have started across West Yorkshire.
👏👏👏
Happy Yorkshire Day!
Proud to be Yorkshire born and bred. What a beautiful part of the country it is and feel very lucky to live here.
Look forward to being a Yorkshire MP one day soon I hope.

Short resignation speech! Of course Johnson has no achievements to talk about.
No apology, no responsibility, no insight. Blaming the herd of his Tory colleagues for turning on him. Still believes he is blameless. British Trump for sure.
#GoNowJohnson
Inspiring to meet
@Mather_Keir
His amazing win in Selby and Ainsty gives other parliamentary candidates like me the hope that we can win and put
@UKLabour
in government.
Excited to launch my campaign to be the next MP for Shipley. Such a positive response to
@UKLabour
on the street and doorsteps in today. Clearly people want a change in government and they want it NOW.
I was hugely honoured to be invited to speak today as
@JohnHealey_MP
&
@Keir_Starmer
laid out Labour's commitments to our Armed Forces.
I spoke about witnessing the Tory mismanagement of our military & why I & my fellow veteran PPCs are fighting to put national security first!
Great team out in
#Bingley
today
#labourdoorstep
with council candidate Susan Fricker and councillors Marcus Dearden and Joe Wheatley. Let’s make it 3/3.
This election is about change.
And I know
@annalouisedixon
will be an exceptional MP for communities in
#Shipley
&
#Bingley
Only a Labour government will deliver new hope and opportunity for our country.
#VoteLabour
on 4th July 🌹
Thank you to everyone who voted
@UKLabour
to deliver a historic GAIN in Wharfedale, another GAIN in Bingley and
a larger majority to HOLD Windhill & Wrose. We are turning
#Shipley
red.
💧| This week, it was announced that Ofwat plans to hand Yorkshire Water a £47million fine over historic sewage leaks.
Ending sewage dumping in the rivers Aire and Wharfe is one of my top priorities as MP for Shipley.
Here is my reaction to the news👇
These are a few of the things I got up to in 2022:
▶️ Turned around a community centre
▶️ Campaigned to save our high streets
▶️ Supported local community orgs
▶️ Spoke to local businesses
▶️ Listened to people on the doorsteps
This is what Shipley's current MP got up to👇
Great to welcome
@AndyBurnhamGM
to
#Bingley
together with
@SHinchcliffe
Lots of shared priorities across the Pennines including the need for better public transport.
Enjoyed supporting
@Mather_Keir
today in Selby. Great launch with the other
@Keir_Starmer
and out on the doors to get out the PV. If you haven’t already been get over there this weekend to GOTPV and help secure a Labour win.
This is what Philip Davies really thinks about the
#NHS
. 😱
#Shipley
#Bingley
#Baildon
#Menston
another reason to vote him out at the next GE 🗳.
I have worked for 20+ years to make sure the NHS and care are there when we need them.
As
#Shipley
MP I will campaign for the NHS
I'm so concerned about the
#NHSCrisis
that I wrote to my MP Philip Davies asking him to urge the government to act, particularly on social care. I thought the voters of
#Bingley
#Saltaire
&
#Shipley
would like to read his response and I do hope they remember it at the next GE.
I’ve worked on health care nationally and internationally for over 20 yrs. Charges in health care cause people to delay check ups and delay treatment causing worse outcomes and higher costs. It impacts poorer people more.
The only way to save the
#NHS
is to vote
@UKLabour
I will continue to argue for action to address child poverty from the government benches in parliament.
If local groups or charities want to meet with me I will feed in their views to the Child Poverty Taskforce. My full statement below 👇
🏥🏗️| AIREDALE HOSPITAL REBUILD TO PROCEED AT PACE
I am delighted that Airedale Hospital will not be included in the review of the New Hospital Programme.
This news means that the plans for the rebuild will continue to proceed at pace.
I am thrilled to have the support of amazing women who have forged the path into politics for me and other women to follow. A huge thanks to
@GlenysThornton
and Hilary Armstrong for supporting my campaign to become the next MP for Shipley.
Wishing all my sisters at the
#jocoxleadership
programme a wonderful final day. So sorry I can't be with you. Off to my shortlist interview now. Wish me luck!
@LabourWomensNet
Brilliant result. Giving pregnant women greater protection at work.
Too many women I know have been unfairly treated on return from mat leave - job down graded, direct reports removed, performance pay denied, restructured out.
@LabourWomensNet
Well... we did it!
What a result!
My Bill, the Protection from Redundancy (Pregnancy and Family Leave) Bill just passed its final debate in
@HouseofCommons
.
Thank you so much to all who helped us do it! 🙏

The Tories have failed to grow our economy and are now out of road.
This conference is our chance to set out our alternative. A growing economy that works for working people again – a fairer, greener future.
#Lab22
@_RobbieMoore
That’s because it is the only way to raise essential funding when budgets have been halved over the past decade by your government leaving councils bankrupt in the face of rising social care demand.
Returning home from Labour Party Conference 2023 fired up.
I can’t wait to get back to work in Shipley and share Labour’s plan to give Britain its future back
#Lab23
Absolutely gutted that government didn't fund
#Bingley
Levelling Up Bid. It is another reminder that levelling up is empty rhetoric.
@UKLabour
will give power back to communities and stop these wasteful bidding wars between local authorities.
Local leaders are forced to waste tens of millions of pounds taking part in the government’s Hunger Games-style beauty contest for levelling up funds, and most end up getting nothing back.
It’s time to end this absurd system.
