Summer baseball coaches, parents and players need to cut the umpires some slack in STL. There is a tremendous shortage and more ejections than ever. Most of these guys have been going 5-6 nights a week since March. Give them a break.

I’ve seen a bunch of tweets about the umpire shortage. Most of the umpires I’ve seen this year, I have known for 10 plus years. They are burned out. You can see it. If you are a player, parent or coach then take 2 minutes and thank them. They are doing everything they can.
BHS Eagles wrapped up our season today. We are very proud of our guys and the character that they showed this year. A lot to be proud of and even more to build on. Thank you to all parents, players, coaches and administrators who made this possible.

We would like to say thank you to Coach Burk for 4 years of service. His commitment and calm influence were key in our rebuild. Joe, we wish you the best of luck in the next chapter of your life and know first hand that you will be successful.

Great practice tonight! We had a good conversation with a father who had two young sons with him. He asked if he could use the cages. We said absolutely! HS cages should be available to the entire community. That is how young kids learn to love the game.
We just finished our season at the HS level with the SLABA All-Star Games. 3 positives we saw this season were our 2020s got a chance to play, other organizations helped each other and we saw our parents go above and beyond for their kids. Thank you.

I would like to say thank you to
@coachbilbrey
for coming by and talking with our kids about college baseball and the recruiting process. Our scholar athletes got a lot of valuable information in a short amount of time.
2024 OF Trenton Mitchell
@bhseaglesbbll
has the best OF arm that I have ever coached. Can make any throw. Elite threat at the plate and on the bases.

If you are a high school baseball player and play on your school team, do not schedule vacations over spring break. Playing for your school is a privilege. Honor your commitment to your coaches and teammates.
Imagine if there was a batting cage built in every park in St.Louis City and County. Right now, several young athletes do not have access to cages.
@Cardinals
maybe look to build some cages instead of fields? Would probably get more use.

Pitchers need to mix in their changeup grips as much as possible in warmups. It shouldn’t just be done from 60 ft. Mixing it in helps you find a better feel for the grip and you will become more comfortable and it’s appropriate at any age.

The Stars would not have had a place to play last summer if Trinity Catholic didn't step up and help us out. Great people, this is very sad for scholars in the North County area.
Hold off on the summer baseball tweets, it’s not even Memorial Day….some of the best HS baseball is being played right now.
@LUSOBaseball
@PCColtsBaseball
well deserved.
Crazy, memorable day in St. Louis high school baseball today. Parkway Central rallied from 8-0 down to win 13-12 in extra innings. Marquette as a 5-seed held off a very tough CBC team 8-7. Lutheran South won on a walk-off hit over Mehlville. Many more great games!
Kids today are not different. The adults who serve as coaches and teachers are. I’m 29 years old and have seniority in my building. When I was in school, 29 would be the young teacher or coach. Don’t make excuses. Provide character education and be a role model for our youth.
Congrats to Jason Reilly on signing with Westminster College today! We have seen him work hard for 4 years now and we are proud of his accomplishments.

Youth baseball has taken an odd turn. Kids under 14u should not be posting highlights in my opinion. I get that you see older kids doing this. For now, enjoy learning to play the game while developing your swing. If you do that, you will gain a greater respect of the game.
If you are filming your kids AB, get the best angle facing them. This can be done at most HS fields. You can use it for instruction or recruiting. If you have a better visual of the jersey number than the swing, you are in the wrong place.

Stars 18u wrap up the regular season with a wild win over the JC Blazers. All started with a HR from Andrew Lurkins. Stole home 3 times throughout the game. Used 4 pitchers. Very proud of our boys. Playoffs start Monday!

RG Baseball would like to thank Bob Menendez for his donation to the program. Bob donated a box of very nice Rawlings gloves. These will make a huge difference this season.
The tryout process can be crazy in St. Louis only if you make it crazy. Stay true to what you are looking for and what is best for you. Don’t get caught up in smoke screens.
13u finishes the season with a 2nd place finish in the Silver Championship Bracket of the Triple Play World Series. Nice way to end the 2018 season gentlemen!
The SW Stars will work around the HS schedule and season as it changes. No player should have to choose between summer ball or representing their HS. We support the HS teams. Based on my conversations, I am confident others will do the same.

Screaming across a field to convey a message to your team is not the most productive way to get across a teaching point. If you want to truly reach your team, pull them together and create a classroom setting.
Every player at this point is tired of being indoors and ready for the spring season. Don’t take a step back. Continue to work on the little things that allowed you to make gains this winter. You should feel at your best by the end of the month.
We have finished our last week of our annual catchers clinic. Our guys have built on each week. Finished up working on plays at the plate simulating different throws and bounces for a tag play. Great work! Visit:
