@ElgortFenton @piebyfour the important part of the tweet was the way people talk about the Palestinian resistance like it’s a game. identifying western leftists as people who do that a lot was just an addition.

@elisexxiv @NukeWisconsin @piebyfour sure the pflp should be celebrated, but not in juxtaposition with hamas. hamas is responsible for the flood and the freedom of thousands of prisoners and are beloved by their people for what they’ve sacrificed for gaza. we should show them the same respect.

@takush14 then why are so many leftists responding to feminists who highlight the sexual violence of the porn industry responding in reductive ways

@CincySpectre @piebyfour i have read up on them plenty. still no reason to say u prefer one resistance group over the other unless you’re actually in Palestine fighting with the resistance.

@JohnPrenderga @vvvvisceras @__domestica she is not saying one is acceptable and the other isn’t. she’s saying on specifically manifests as sexual violence against women and the other doesn’t.

@takush14 if i said “the tech industry relies on the exploitation of people in the global south” and people responded “well that’s just capitalism” they’re being purposely obtuse in ignoring the specific manifestation of exploitation unique to a particular industry.

@takush14 when feminists bring up that porn is exploitative leftists like you and the ones in the comments of the tweet i qrt rebut that all capitalism is exploitative, instead of recognizing the unique aspects of exploitation perpetuated by the porn industry. it’s reductive and useless

@takush14 i specifically said that sexual exploitation and violence against women is relied upon and perpetuated by the porn industry, not that other industries aren’t exploitative

@alanB_Writer just because something is common doesn’t mean it shouldnt be critiqued. we should interrogate what forces in society lead to women having rape fantasies and work to eradicate them. i hope to live in a world where no woman fantasizes about violence being enacted against her.

@ThatLiberator no one is arguing that capitalism doesn’t rely on exploitation, but there’s a unique aspect to porn in the way it preys on women and commodifies their bodies and sexualities. responding to that criticism with “well all capitalist is exploitation” is being purposely obtuse.
