@AJAskey @crispy11b Nobody can fix an outlook on life; like a drug addict, the decision needs to come from within. No intervention or charity will bring about change on its own; only fiery desire will make it so. When you truly want it enough, it'll happen. You don't even need to know where to begin

@shyAway_Games @Earth_Updates Zoophilia is an attraction to animals. There are zoos who do and don't, and there are other people who aren't zoos who do as well.

You're the one who should learn respect for animals. You're spewing utter nonsense with complete confidence, and yet you've never done any research on the subject. You *want* to be right about this, more than you can prove to yourself that you are. It has been proven that animals have morals, it has been proven that they operate with individual consciousness, not "biological factor", which I think you're hoping we won't even ask what that means. It's true that humans have lost many of our instincts, as well as much of whatever genetic memory we used to have. But that doesn't mean that animals don't have the capacity to think or feel in the same ways we do - and the evidence strongly suggests that they do.

The only help that exists is toward the goal of self-acceptance. Conversion therapy is pseudoscience and if it worked, the church would have succeeded in eradicating homosexuality centuries ago. To accept oneself might require intervention if the person is unable to control their urges. This could be medication, simple psychotherapy, or up to the extreme of being committed to hospital. Many paraphilias have a criterion of not doing harm, but zoophilic disorder is classed under "other specified paraphilic disorder", which only concerns itself with the well-being of the person with the attraction. I argue this is because zoophilia itself cannot be responsible for conscious harming of animals. To be able to do that, you need some other factor, such as being oblivious to their plight, not caring about what you do understand about them, or actually enjoying that they are actively suffering. All of these things have other labels and criteria; attractions to animals alone cannot be the primary responsible factor. (Oop, not proofing this comment; it's sleep time. Fingers crossed it reads well enough.)

@MoxSpot @qparadene @ZoocraticMethod I agree. But pedophilia is an attraction; sex offences are the crimes I don't have a reference on hand, but government publications like this have a tonne of info and more citations at the bottom;

@MoxSpot @qparadene @ZoocraticMethod That's because there's a very real argument for ethical relationships being possible under the right circumstances. If people are going to practice no matter how much you tell them to, the best thing to do is teach them to understand and respect the wishes of animals.

@MoxSpot @qparadene @ZoocraticMethod Did you know that the majority of sexual offenders against children are not actually pedophiles? These are crimes of opportunity in most cases. In something like 90 percent of incidents, the perpetrator is known to the victim. And in 50 percent of cases, it's a relative.

@MoxSpot @qparadene @ZoocraticMethod It is strange, yes, but attractions aren't something anybody chooses, so our only choice is to accept them, and exist with them in a healthy and responsible way.

There are a lot of people talking about either loving or hating zoopride, but very few mentions of what that actually entails. My understanding (and perhaps, dream) is that above all else, zoopride should always be highlighting self-acceptance and self-compassion. To show others that it's not only possible, but a healthier and happier way of life. Yes, there are things worth achieving that zoophiles talk about regularly, but Rome wasn't built in a day, and neither did all of the gay rights come a day following the sexual revolution; it took years- decades! I think it's better to be realistic with goals, and structure them in a way that means things get accomplished one after another. Aiming high is great, but it's much more rewarding to see real progress. At this stage in the game, this could simply be the number of people supporting #zoopride, so keep using the hashtag! Many zoos haven't even gotten over their self-deprecation yet, so how can any of us expect them to be honest with others when they cannot even be honest with themselves? So, that's what this group is for; a public space, by zoos, for zoos (and friends), who want to eradicate zoophilic disorder through social therapy, by showing that first and foremost, it's okay to be zoo. So, how can you help? Well, you already are, keep doing what you're doing! But feel free to join this community group, and share your best, most inspiring posts, whenever they come to mind. Because the world hates what they don't understand, every zoo is a zoo in need. I never thought it was possible, but there's one thing I've learned in my twelve months being here; you can change lives just by being you. So be yourself, and be proud; stay zooey!

@modernsnok90906 @FryzsHavEscaped @deez612761 It's called mate selection. Many animals do this, including humans (humans are animals, too). And when one of them is happy with their chosen partner, they give permission to sleep together. That's consent. And yes, we've seen animals choose humans.

@qparadene @MoxSpot @ZoocraticMethod Yeah, exactly. It only has to be kept private because of the artificial "problem" that exists, entirely a social construct. If someone can't name an actual harm that results from people having thoughts and feelings, then the problem they have with it is an emotional one.
