Unfortunately, the fact that tracing & testing of close contacts was suspended for most of January (just resumed on 29th) mean the data on that graph isn’t really consistent or full picture. And there is no turn-around for over 1000 people who lost their lives in the last month.

This is disingenuous. The Minister already has the power to order inspections under Article 8 of the 1973 and 1989 regulations and he needs to use those powers immediately.
I want to see random checks on civil aircraft and I will sit down with my officials and with legal experts over the coming months to make sure that new legislation is developed that is watertight, is workable, and is compliant with international aviation law.

One of the most important achievements of the outgoing Seanad was our collective work in cooperation with NGOs to ensure Coercive Control got recognised as an offence in the Domestic Violence Act - this week saw the first conviction under that offence.
The first conviction for

in Ireland: “Coercive Control involves an abusive person gaining or maintaining influence over another person by subjecting them to psychological, physical, sexual or financial abuse.”

Opposing the 27th amendment was one of my first campaigns when I moved back to Ireland in 2004 from the US (where so many Irish had citizen children) The result was so depressing & diminished us as a republic. As predicted, it has created fear & distress for so many families.
And like them, so many other kids living in limbo... This is the legacy of the 27th amendment.
There are many possible solutions to prevent Irish children being deported. It only takes political will.

Interview makes it very clear, they have no intention of giving sick pay unless we legislate to make them. Also a reminder of why government MUST legislate to implement sectoral employment orders, tackle insecure hours & false/forced self employment & ensure union recognition
This is from the horse's mouth. Agencies that supply the meat factories don't have to pay sick pay because it is not the law. The meat factories don't do it either because they don't have to. This has to change.
