@ChristianEedes A shame, but they're up against tough competition from the more usual (wooded?) suspects, incl the fortified & dessert wines. Not enough library stock perhaps?

Unfortunately, the result of the Veblen effect. Also, similar to knowing the 'tourist traps', we should know the more obvious 'traps' wrt our local wine's price and (relative) value.
As the former chairman of the most prestigious wine society in SA I invite anybody to define the monetary difference I should be experiencing in a wine costing R1725 and a wine of same cultivar, same area and same vintage costing R225. Go......

Your 95 vs Neal Martin’s 95 vs Tim Atkin/CE/etc’s 95.. same score, but most enthusiasts know the difference and how it relates to our own taste. Neal’s 95 is more like Mr X’s 98 for example. There will be a problem once Neal start handing out much more 99/100s though..
Had an interesting discussion with colleagues today. Wine critics are going to outscore each other into oblivion within five years, I reckon. Why pay for critic reviews when score inflation pushes everyone into a five-point band for pretty much all fine wine?

This is getting absurd. Where are the rugby morality police now? Would Matt Williams be happy knowing a try was scored legally (knock-on happened more than 2 phases back) but not morally (knock-on did happen)?
Let it go guys...its over. But do find it strange that weeks after the final we're still re-litigating the officials decisions. The issue here isnt that there was a knock on, but that it was four phases back, and not 2 as protocol allows.
