You’d never know this kid was a transfer from Blue Ridge. The way he took control all season and then to make a comment like this, “the goal was to put Gaffney back on top…to bring the PRIDE and TRADITION back to Gaffney…” you’d think he grew up in Gaffney. Great win

I grew up going to games with this atmosphere EVERY Friday night. Road game? Doesn’t matter. Most time Gaffney fans outnumber the home fans 2:1 or 3:1. Football is different in Gaffney. It means a little bit more. That town lives and dies by every snap of the ball.

Ok, so I don’t want to say I called it but... in Nov 2016 when Texas hired Tom Herman I put a calendar date in my phone for Dec 1, 2020 that said “Tom Herman.” The note within that event said “National Championship or Fired.”

The last baseball game to be played at Fluor Field was March 14. Mauldin High vs Blythewood High. With COVID concerns lingering over high school sports, we gave all four teams (Riverside & Flora) a “Senior Night” unlike any other
This was a truly special moment. I miss baseball
Really cool moment here after the game. All seniors were recognized and fireworks were shot off in what could be these players last game.

Quick Coach Prevatte story: I lived in the same neighborhood as him growing up. My brother and I were selling Easter baskets one year (really don’t know why). Got to coach’s house and he bought every last one we had just so we could say we sold them all. He was that kind of man.
BREAKING: Legendary Gaffney Football Coach, Bob Prevatte, passed away today at the age of 98.
Prevatte coached at Gaffney from 1956-1969, compiling a 119-29-11 record (a win record that stood until 2022). He also won 5 state championships.

Confused why the CFP National Championship game can't be played on a Saturday (because the "understanding" between the NFL and NCAA to not play any college games on NFL Saturday)... but the FCS National Championship is played at 2pm on the last NFL Sunday of the season.... 🤷🏻♂️
