What an excellent public servant Frances Fitzgerald has been.
A great mentor to so many in Fine Gael over the years too, where the maxim has been that anybody who has worked for her goes on to achieve great things.
Over recent weeks I have taken time to reflect on the 2024 European Parliament Elections and have decided that I will not contest the Dublin constituency again.

Very sad to hear this. Former Taoiseach Bruton was one of the brightest minds in Fine Gael and a true gent whenever you met him. Was always very supportive to any Fine Gaelers in Brussels over the years too. A true statesman. RIP.
John Bruton, who served as Taoiseach from 1994-97 as the leader of the ‘Rainbow Coalition’ and as Fine Gael leader from 1990 to 2001, has died after a long illness.

This is not true. One of my best childhood memories is hearing a roar erupt from the far side of a French campsite & peddling there ~ar nós na gaoithe ~ to find [what I remember as] 1 billion 🇮🇪 people going abso nuts because Robbie Keane had just equalised against Germany.
A friend said to me recently that taking children abroad on hols is a waste of time and money, as under 12’s don’t remember such trips 😳

Brussels has the best rental market of any city I’ve lived in & this is because the city has an abundance of 1 bedroom units available to people living & working in the city for 1 or 2 years. Dublin has virtually none meaning people get stuck in houseshares way into their 30s.

I know exactly what’s going on, thanks. Bxl has more stable rents because BTR 1 beds exist in large quantities together with secure lease arrangements. Dub’s market is largely accidental landlords who inherited a property & don’t know what to do with it.
