people use caffeine so wrong if you're consuming it every day (ie, coffee), you depend on it to get to a baseline level of consciousness if you only consume it once a week (or less), on days when you want to be extra effective, it's a superpower

Google Cloud accidentally deleted a company's entire cloud environment (Unisuper, an investment company, which manages $80B). The company had backups in another region, but GCP deleted those too. Luckily, they had yet more backups on another provider.

more specifically, eat smaller meals and move immediately after anytime i eat a meal i would have called "normal" sized before, i'm in for a big spike if i sit after a meal (usually at my desk for work), that spike is exacerbated (and the insulin dump is going to be intense)

$5 vps people, you shouldn't be taking a victory lap bc of the vercel bill thing lol if you had ever experienced a jump in traffic like that you would know that the theoretical req/s limits of the hardware/vm are irrelevant it's your dumb code that's the bottleneck

I don’t know where it’s all headed, but I think “backend dev” is going the way of the dodo. That role is getting eaten from both ends. Frontend devs going full-stack (graphql, trpc, api routes, etc.) and devops/infra folks leveraging managed services to build low-code backends.
