S&C / Sport Science is bizarre, especially at the top end of sport.
You’re paid very little by large, wealthy organisations to improve the performance of their wealthiest employees. And you probably work double the amount you’re paid for.
How is that attractive?

I honestly can't remember ever seeing a post for an unpaid plumber or similar tradesmen. Yet there still seems to be a group of folk out there thinking it is normal to assume people in the sport science / high performance sector want to work for free.

The fitness industry (inc. some parts of health/nutrition) is absolutely bonkers. Most people wouldn’t allow someone with the same level of education/experience as them to wire up the electricity in their house but they will make this exception for advice on their own body?!

Had 25 people turn up for rugby training in a village in Norway today.
Almost nobody had touched a 🏉 before today.
2 hours of continuous touch games.
No instructions, no drills, no queues, just play.

Swann is a disgrace. Created debt in a club that had none. Debt was created by personal gambling.
Used his company to write off the debt, HE CREATED, in exchange for ownership of assets.
Not only will he get away with this financial misconduct he will profit from it.

Proper proud of this. Had a rugby session with 6 people 6 months ago in western rural Norway. Fast forward to now, we’ve played a 3rd place playoff in the national snow rugby champs and fielded a womens’ team and today we’ve been able to provide 4 lads to Bergen RugbyKlubb

How can this be a volunteer role when you are asking for full time hours 8:30-16:00 + "possible" (which means definite) evenings and weekends. If you need this, then pay for it. If it is genuine work experience then don't specify working hours

One thing I’ve reflected on having moved out of the UK is that a ridiculous amount of folk take pride in working excessively.
There’s no honour in working yourself into the ground. Stop stigmatising not working weekends and evenings.

I’ve never understood how anyone believes their child has a specialised playing position (in any sport). If you think you’re kid is a goalkeeper/defender/attacker at 4 years old, all you’re doing is (very obviously) living vicariously through the life of your child.
