The new VRCConstraints are super cool. The performance improvement was massive. This is a poor avatar I made rq, with 5 VRCVonstraint clones to make a sudo sandevistan effect. Still not something I would run every day. But crazy how many possibilities this opens up. #VRChat

Still a WIP, but I added sitting support! Need to polish the animation a bit. Next I will focus on the visual side. A techy version like this, and maybe a version that can accept rock/ice textures. I also made a square tile version while testing. So I might add that. #VRChat

SDK 3.7.0 is out which includes VRChat Constraints! Going to do some quick testing to ensure that nothing has broken between the last beta and live. Then I'll be releasing the tool!

@ryuzamesi For a quick hologram effect, these settings in the image work. The main thing that my prefab brings is the projection lines, which you can't do with poiyomi as far as I know.

Hey, just making everyone aware. It seems that #Gumroad has just added a "tip" option for purchases Its enabled by default at 20%. However, creators can disable it in their store in settings. Its a new feature so some people may not notice it and get charged extra unexpectedly!

@Pixel_exe_ Yeah, this is why I eventually decided not to publicize the script that I made for setting this up. The avatar in the video is only 9k poly, so all told the avatar is poor with 5 clones (due to bone transforms). But I was worried about this exact thing.

Had one of those moments where I fail to find a tool that does what I need, so I decide to make it myself. This is meshnipulator (working title), a tool for moving around (and gen'ing) mesh vertex data in #unity3d . Focusing on #VRChat uses for some of my upcoming #shader stuff.

Is your Audiolink not working? There has seemingly been a change to yt-dlp that has broken Audiolink's ability to play Youtube links. For now, using non-Youtube links works. Or you can use the old fashion way and use an audio clip directly (see image)! #VRChat

@dtupper @poiyomi To my understanding. Due to some Unity oddness, you can literally add material slots to your mesh renderer. It causes the final submesh slot to render twice, once with each material. You can then extrude the second material along its normals in the shader to do effects with it.

Thinking about it further. I have disabled this for my store for now I like how tipping works a lot more than Pay What You Want But it defaulting to 20% just feels super scummy. Wish it defaulted to 0%, or asked the user with a popup. Not this negative affirmation BS. @gumroad

@flarechess VRC is a game of two complete opposite experiences IMO. The surface level is worse than 90% of other places on the internet (This is your random public worlds). The rest is composed of friends of friends in friend+ worlds, and is typically better than 90% of the internet (1/2)

Decided to experiment with doing difference of gaussians today (D.O.G.). These were taken using VRCLens with my D.O.G. filter applied on top. Still have some tinkering to do especially on the color/brightness side! Worlds: Calm Meadow and Exoplanet Journey. #VRChat

@tholinvali I just took a super quick look. It seems like (at least when I imported it) one of your CRTs (CRT.asset) has Enable Color Compatible Format disabled. Which the server side checks reject! Might be as easy a fix as changing that one checkbox.

For example, currently I merge skinned meshes/materials on the clone model automatically (this can be disabled). I will also implement warnings for stuff like excessive polygon amounts. Vid shows a super WIP version of the script, lots of stuff left to implement. 2/2

@gumroad @itsVeeVR @LiindyVR If customers love tipping so much, they can select 20% at the checkout screen themselves. The issue I have is that its selected by default, and people will get overcharged for not noticing. This then reflects badly on the seller and Gumroad. It prays on customer inattention.

@LiindyVR One of the core responsibilities of an avatar seller is to verify that they have the rights to sell everything they put on their avatar. Its crazy how many simply don't read the TOS of assets, while also having a TOS on their avatar. Most ppl are good though and respect the terms

New logo, who dis? I commissioned a logo design from one of my friends @R3XR0V3R . Friend bias accounted for, they were a joy to work with and super receptive to my crazy "I have this idea in my head but I can't explain it" rants.🤣 Would 100% recommend them if you need a logo!

@flarechess The challenge is a lot of amazing people need to first withstand the surface and make a friend to get to the rest of the game. That’s a huge challenge when almost all of “the rest” never go to the surface. Because why would they when it’s worse than 90% of the internet.

I've been told I should tweet WIPs more. So I disregarded that advice and completely finished a WIP experiment I had (at least for now) before tweeting. This is an #audiolink experiment #VRChat_world that uses a custom shader to visualize music like an oscilloscope can.

As an extension of the hologram I made, point light abuse let me push it a bit further. Now the projector origin follows a little projector object :P No scripts as always (other than a physbone) so it works in VRC. #vrchat #unity3D #shaders #vrchatavatar #VRC

@super_sierra I am using a "Damping" Constraint. Its a way to set up a normal parent constraint that makes it take time to reach its target. This is done by including the objects transform in the sources list as well with a Weight of 1. Example:

Let myself get distracted trying to figure out an effect a friend showed me in #Vrchat . Using #blender geometry nodes I am putting info like face center, and side/front/back in the mesh uvs/vertex colors. Can then access that info from a #unity3d shader for scaling/displacement.

@Sairenix I think this entirely depends on what is in the package. Assets designed to be added in blender? Sure, zip them up. But for stuff that is made to be used in Unity itself, not using a package leaves a ton of room for customer error.

@honeybee6519 Yeah in a perfect world everyone would use low poly clones for the afterimages. I’ve been thinking about potential reasonable restrictions that could encourage that without completely stomping on its usability. Ie:polygon/material limits.

@RaealTheProto However, I also do think that there is some need to gently tell people that they should look into optimizing their avatar. When I first started playing I had no clue about optimization, and it would have stayed that way if no one had ever mentioned it!

@RaealTheProto IMO the real root issue is the current avatar market. I struggle to even suggest an optimization starting point to someone who's unknowingly purchased an avatar with 300k poly and 40 materials other than "start removing stuff". Which a lot of ppl don't want to do.
