All UK healthcare providers, including and especially the NHS, must be Equality Act compliant. A healthcare policy which omits the protected characteristic of Sex is not worth the paper it’s written on.
Last year, a London hospital cancelled a woman's life-saving operation at the last minute because it didn't 'share her values' after she said she wanted her aftercare nurses to be female. There's now been a major and brilliant development 1/4
@sussex_police
Thank you, but the earlier statement was sadly predictable.
None of this is difficult, but time and again we see the police making very basic errors on points of law.
Why not employ actual lawyers to advise you on the law, instead of Stonewall apparatchiks?
Another exclusion! This has to stop!
I had a life-saving operation cancelled for the same reason. Thankfully the private hospital saw sense and changed policy.
The NHS should follow suit. We don’t want a politicised NHS.
During a livestream, the doctors' surgery of
@ThePosieParker
calls to tell her she's being removed as a patient because she had 'misgendered' a receptionist and objected to her wearing a Pride lanyard, adding that all staff will be wearing this shortly
@CaringADignity
And people should stop presuming that the onus is on disabled women to request same sex intimate care. That is an ableist position. A responsible healthcare provider would provide it, by default.
#RestoreSafeguarding
@Glinner
I had an argument with a male manager in Oxford Street John Lewis about this. JL lets men self-ID into the changing rooms in the ladies’ clothes section. Women customers had no idea that they were entering what is in effect a mixed sex space. 1/
@Independent
Very sloppy thinking.
‘Trans men’ who are not chemically enhanced are allowed to compete in women’s sport. This is not an anti-trans policy, it’s a policy that prevents males from enjoying an unfair physical advantage over women in sport.
We're deeply disappointed to see some of our staff and students subjected to online harassment.
Hatred and intolerance have no place at Kew, and we're more committed than ever to embracing diversity and creating an inclusive environment for all. 💚
@varindeus
The police watched it. They were standing between her and the victim, and they did not arrest her or charge her. If it was specifically directed at Afro hair, it’s more than an assault; it’s a hate crime.
We’re committed to being an inclusive organisation where all transgender staff, patients and visitors feel welcome, safe, and respected.
In partnership with our LGBT+ staff networks, we’ve developed our inclusion statement.

No, a request for precise language is not ‘bizarre’. I’m a scientist turned UK solicitor (definitely not a bot). It is shocking that somebody needs to explain to you why definitions matter. Women’s sex-based rights will be erased without them; perhaps that is your objective.
@NickFletcherMP
Thank you, Nick, but the Dept of Health is well aware of these pernicious policies, including Annex B, that have poisoned the NHS well.
Steve Barclay was removed from his post only weeks after he promised to expunge the NHS of gender ideology. Why the refusal to act?
@VictoriaPeckham
Unbelievable. A second Hayton puff piece in the Times as a rebuttal to a spat on X.
Meanwhile, zero coverage of the Hayton schools toilet guidance - a safeguarding disaster.
Why isn’t he being asked to clarify his current position re single sex toilets in schools?
@jo_bartosch
@crit_gen
@nym_bug
Yes, until 5 minutes ago we had reached the happy point in society where it was generally accepted that gender non-conformity, within one’s sex, was perfectly OK.
Now we have corporate-sponsored body-modification fascists telling gender non-conformists to change their bodies.
@stephenwhittle
@jasonintrator
I’m an atheist UK solicitor. Every single person I have met in my women’s rights groups is an ex-Labour voter. Mostly professional women concerned with safeguarding.
You have lazily applied U.S tropes to the UK women’s rights movement.
Expect ridicule for this.
@SamiraAhmedUK
@newswatchbbc
Please report on the WPATH scandal. This is an issue of massive public interest and the BBC is supposed to be our national broadcaster.
@Glinner
And that included a number of Muslim women that I saw queuing. Junior staff on the frontline have to deal with these men. The manager insisted that female customers don’t mind, because “nobody has ever complained”, as if silence represents consent. /2
@KemiBadenoch
@mc_simmy
Kemi, could we not just make the EqA single sex exception mandatory instead of optional?
There’s no such thing as non-biological sex and so I can’t understand why the EqA PC of Sex needs defining.
Having both ‘legal’ and ‘biological’ sex is a mess.
@VictoriaPeckham
@DebbieHayton
I know you are trying to be courteous, but by using a female pronoun for a man, you are tacitly undermining the boundaries of women generally. Once it becomes customary to refer to men as women, it becomes harder to keep them out of our spaces.
@NatWest_Help
I’ve banked with you since 1991, when I took out my law school loan. I am horrified that a reputable bank would politicise itself in this way, by supporting an ideology which undermines half of its customer base! Are you completely mad?

I heard that the police were called and actually attended!
Meanwhile, no police action taken when men in bikinis pitch up at the Ladies’ pond. What a joke that they’ve now got official approval. Even though they could have used the adjacent mixed sex pond instead!
Somebody explain to me how a non-verbal disabled woman will be able to exclude a man claiming a ‘legal’ sex (GRC) from giving her intimate care.
Assume his employer refuses to implement the EqA single sex exception. Like the NHS does.
Why spend political capital to solve a real issue when you’ve got pundits who will happily denounce it as the evil invention of Kemi Badenoch?
Today’s column on Labour’s legally illiterate response to Tory proposals to clarify the law on single-sex spaces
@BevJacksonAuth
Criticisms of the use of wrong-sex pronouns and a failure to cover DH’s school guidance are not personal attacks.
Branding of people as ‘ultras’ (extremists) for raising safeguarding issues is an abuse of journalistic power. I resent this label and reject it.

Very good response, and so much better than the one issued by Wiltshire following the incident with Kellie Jay Keen.
It is unnerving to see the UK police service behaving like Stonewall goons. Something has gone badly wrong with the College of Policing.
@SonyaDouglas
@Peston
Peston decries homophobia but at the same time complains about those who object to pronoun-users.
He doesn’t understand that all manifestations of gender ideology are intrinsically homophobic.
Not that clever, then.
@jack_turban
This is a misconception. I only joined Twitter to campaign on this issue, because of the emergency situation with child-safeguarding and the dangers of self-ID. I don’t tweet about anything else. There are plenty of people doing this.
@HadleyFreeman
@HJoyceGender
@VictoriaPeckham
It’s not personal. The school toilets guidance that he wrote continues to inflict widespread damage on girls. Why are journalists not asking for his comment on this? Glaring omission. He won’t answer me. You’ve got the power here.
@DebbieHayton
@VictoriaPeckham
I’m informed that you wrote the guidance to enable boys and men to access female school toilets. Is that correct?
What is your current position on this subject? The policy seems to have caused absolute chaos in schools and a lot of distress to girls.
Please clarify.
@salltweets
@Primark
There is another solution. We’ve got a single-sex exemption available for service providers in the UK Equality Act. It was designed specifically for situations like this.
Problem is, it’s not mandatory.
Service providers are too cowardly to invoke the exemption.
@TuttingM
An EIA would show that that configuration is discriminatory against women, who take longer. Strong evidence that women need more provision than men.
If there are 2 loos, the most fair configuration (if you’re buying into the cult) would be gender neutral and female.

But she has not protected herself as much as she could have done. If I read correctly, her friends are supportive of this AGP. How awful for her, a double betrayal.
@garylfrancione
@lascapigliata8
Vastly more men have sexual fetishes than women. Autogynephilia is a fetish. 98% of sexual assaults are committed by men.
A woman with a male gender identity is not analogous in safeguarding terms to a male erotic cross dresser. Honestly, just check out the statistics.
@Creamfacedloon
@StandingforXX
Nearly everyone was nude at Hampstead Ladies’ Pond when I went there in 1996. There was not the slightest concern about predatory men or covert filming. It was another world, before online porn. The police would’ve been called if male perverts were lurking. It felt safe.
@CforWomenUK
@CPSUK
Cook was a high-profile figure whose social media statements were deeply misogynistic, and included a bid to decriminalise sex by deception. By recruiting him, the CPS is tacitly endorsing these views. This diminishes public confidence in the impartiality of the CPS.

Will Wiltshire Police make a gesture towards the most vulnerable cohort in society (3 of us are murdered each week) by celebrating International Women’s Day on 8th March 2023?
That means lanyards, flags and patrol car resprays. Suffragette colours of purple, white and green.
@paoladiana_
@WRNAustralia
Yes. Both of those words have been invented by powerful groups of male bullies to silence critics so that they can continue to oppress women. Rank misogyny, both.

@kewgardens
What “online harassment”? You should be careful with the words you use.
This is a massive waste of taxpayers’ money squandered on a political agenda that hardly anyone supports.
@Docstockk
A sudden departure from ‘why aren’t the feminists doing something about this’, to it being a matter of ‘tone’ when they have to acknowledge that what we said all along had merit.
@TimesRadio
@kaitborsay
Times journalists, please refrain from using the term ‘safe spaces’ which has no meaning in policy or law.
The correct phrase is ‘single sex spaces’.
@stonewalluk
Why is Stonewall UK referencing Roe v Wade, which is a U.S case, as if it’s an international issue? We have secure abortion law in the UK.
The UK gender critical cohort is not against abortion, same sex marriage etc. That is an American trope.
Stop lying!!
@Druhorton
I did. The hospital apologised, reinstated the operation and expunged gender from all of their U.K. hospitals. Because I was right, and THEY respected that. Eventually.

Any NHS worker who places a male in a bed next to a disabled woman is in breach of the EqA 2010 (discrimination - protected categories of Disabled + Sex) and also the HSC Act 2008 (Regulations, 2014) + the CQC Fundamental Standards of Care.
Weren’t you taught this?

Please let’s encourage him. I want him to go ahead and stand as an MP against Posie Parker. It will be a more hilarious spectacle than any of his comedy.
@ClaireShrugged
That is a very serious accusation to make without giving facts. Park the polemic momentarily; what has Posie Parker done that is right-wing? A specific response, please.
@JustMisogyny
They ALWAYS omit to mention that 85% of them haven’t had the chop. Tolerance to men in women’s spaces evaporates once that fact is known.

Thousands of British sailors lost their lives while rescuing slaves during the British-enforced ban on slavery. Britain didn’t invent slavery, but we ended it. I believe there’s a new phrase for saying things like this: “fact-shaming”.

@CF_Farrow
Yes, and neither did Susie Green when she had her 16 year old castrated in Thailand. She should have been arrested at the airport on arrival in the UK, not allowed to set up de-sexing of children as a business model.
@MForstater
Sex by deception is of course an offence. Once we have the result of this case, we must campaign hard for a public enquiry into Stonewall’s role in public institutions. GC groups must collaborate. We can do this if we work together.
@RaeUK
@waitrose
Totally sympathise. I have heard of many intersex people complaining that they are being used as props for this men’s sexual rights agenda. This is even worse than Waitrose’s (futile) attempt to intimidate Posie Parker.

@hen10freeman
Is that so? I’m a campaigner for same sex care - LBC organised a libellous hatchet job phone-in against me. I had to force Ferrari to recant and apologise on-air for a pack of lies. LBC is a disgrace.
@StandingforXX
@sajidjavid
Why was NHS Digital given the authority to alter NHS England’s website without consultation with ministers in the first place?
Why have the female descriptors on the NHS England’s website been butchered, while the male descriptors have been left alone?
Sajid Javid, get a grip!

There is. Check out the U.K. Ministry of Justice prison statistics. Male transvestite prisoners are 4 x more likely to be sex offenders than the male prison population as a whole.

The fact that they’ve amended their Style Guide to redefine homosexuality as same-gender attracted, instead of same sex attracted, is indicative of undue influence.
The BBC’s definition is at odd with both the EA 2010 and the OED. They refuse to reinstate it.
@JuliaHB1
@NoToMisogyny
The RCOG admits that there are insufficient studies into the long-term effects on babies of testosterone in breast-milk. Why is the precautionary principle not being applied? This is the way the system operated until 5 minutes ago - first, be sure that you are doing no harm.
@ComicalType
Welcome. It would be interesting if you could explain what made you become a TRA. I just can’t make the conceptual leap and would value the insight.
@sally_hines
No, it’s gender non-conformity that has a long history. Until 5 minutes ago, people with varied presentations did not try to amputate body parts in a futile attempt to change sex.
@LukeTryl
Agree that we talk about ‘trans’ people far too much.
Why no question on women’s single sex spaces or women’s sport? Affects 51% of the population.
@SamBarber1910
@MattWalshBlog
Yes, it’s been such an eye-opener during this fight, the total lack of interest of men in anything which doesn’t affect them directly. They will only engage if you mention the sporting category travesty, but rapidly switch off after 5 mins.
