Using one-off weather events as evidence of a “climate crisis” is no more convincing than when people use a cold snap as evidence climate change isn’t happening.

The climate crisis is here. This time, it's our community posting the wild videos on social media of flash floods. It's our neighbors lined up outside Home Depot to try and salvage their homes. It's our lives hanging in the balance.

There are 84 schools in WI rated as "Meeting Expectations" or higher w/ ELA proficiency <25%. WILL wrote a letter to DPI demanding they change this absurdity. I'll be discussing w/ @yount1130 coming up later this morning.

I don’t understand those having sympathy for those w/ massive credit card debt but not those w/ student loan debt. Both are about personal responsibility. But one is about 18 yos trying to better themselves & the other is often about adults who want another purse or golf club.

Credit Card Companies should not be allowed to charge 24% interest rates, it's absurd and borderline criminal. Why does Congress allow this to continue?.

I'll be discussing my recent op-ed w/ @CoryJBrewer on national school choice legislation--and why it should be supported across the political spectrum--coming up in a few mins on Point Taken on @620wtmj .

Recent national school choice legislation can benefit kids in traditional public schools as well. Democrats should embrace it as a potential source for supplementary aid to these kids.

Amazing. Absolutely amazing. This elementary school in Milwaukee "Meets Expectations" according to the state report card. But only FOUR PERCENT of the school's students can read or do math at grade level. What are the expectations?!

Data revisions are a normal, necessary part of trying to measure a $30 trillion economy in real time. They can also be jarring, especially for people who don't obsessively scrutinize every jobs report. So I dug into the how and why of revisions. A few big takeaways:.

We hope that the issues raised after the report card debacle will lead DPI to change course on lowering standards, but we won't hold our breath. You can read the full letter here:.

We offer two solutions to improve the report card: change cut points so that the results are more normal, and make adjustments to mitigate the outsized role income status plays in excusing bad proficiency rates.

Our current report card system rates 0 school districts in the lowest category--despite proficiency rates of under 25% in reading in many instances. In the figure below, we compare the true report card results with what a normal distribution of results would look like.
