Congratulations my dear brother. We very much look forward to working with you to accelerate our journey through transformation. The @animperfectstrm was and still is an account on how you managed to steer the health response to a then unknown and unanticipated threat back home , which was later declared a pandemic, informing the global response strategies. I’m confident we will do the same for our @WHOAFRO, building on the work of the WRs led Actions for Results Group. All the best my brother @UN_Nigeria @WHONigeria @Fmohnigeria @NCDCgov @NphcdaNG @nighealthwatch

Amazing experience as RD @MoetiTshidi and myself bump into Mrs Chizoma our colleague working @WHO Office in Lyon. We shared memories of the @EndPolioNow ramp down and ramp up that made this move possible. Well done @WHONigeria

A defining moment of the ongoing 12th @WHO Global Management Meeting yesterday was the standing ovation in recognition of the work of the Actions For Results Group #ARG which spearheaded transformation with enhanced delegation of authority for country offices, definition and resourcing of Core Predictable Country Presence, streamlined planning processes with new generation of CCS, new communication standards and improved risk management processes among others. We thank the DG and the entire organization for this recognition and look forward to working together for an emergent, agile and fit-for-purpose Organization @DrTedros @MoetiTshidi @UN_Nigeria @Fmohnigeria

Met with the great news about @WHONigeria award as the best performing country team on donor reporting. This award was received on our behalf by Atika and Nabila, our dedicated #UNVs in Cape Town last week. It is a translation of the dedication of our external relations team working closely with all clusters and technical officers. It was handed over to us this morning to immortalize the event. Thank you to all our colleagues who have been working hard to keep our flag high. Congratulations to our local resource mobilization committee led my Melissa our ERO. They meet weekly to review our portfolio and identify solutions to improve our grant management performance both in normal and in humanitarian settings to bring life saving interventions to those most in need. @WHO @UN_Nigeria @WHOAFRO

On the 84 Multidisciplinary #AVoHC-SURGE responders trained in Nigeria and ready to be deployed within 24 to 48 hours, over 45% were female, marking a deliberate intent to assert our commitment to women empowerment and gender equality in all our operations as we roll out implementation of the SURGE Flagship roadmap in Nigeria, which includes expansion to six pilot states. Lessons learned from the first phase are now being used to inform scoping missions and step down training, a much needed milestone in a country-continent. The initiative which is contributing to the Nigeria Health Sector Renewal Investment Initiative and the Compact we signed with the Government alongside other development partners, is being spearheaded by @NCDCgov as the National Secretariat working closed with the @WHONigeria National Coordinator, making it a nationally owned endeavor and implemented with support from the Regional Office, in collaboration with @AfricaCDC and other #GHSA partners. I applaud the dedication of all our national colleagues involved, especially the leadership exemplified by our female colleagues who are playing a critical role in this initiative @UN_Nigeria @Fmohnigeria @NCDCgov @WHONigeria @DrTedros @MoetiTshidi @USAIDNigeria @USCDCNIGERIA @UKHSA @ResolveTSL @NphcdaNG @NafdacAgency @nemanigeria @nighealthwatch @NGFSecretariat
Congratulations to @WHOAFRO @AfricaCDC for collaborating to build this Army of 3,000 African #AVoHC-SURGE Responders capable of being deployed within 24 to 48 hours, with facilitators drawn from trained responders from a number of countries and organizations. We are particularly glad that in addition to training its own army of #AVoHC-SURGE responders across Nigeria in December 2022, @WHONigeria, @Fmohnigeria and @NCDCgov have contributed by providing a pool of facilitators that trained responders in West Africa and across the continent. #AVoHC-SURGE Flagship is revolutionizing capabilities for emergency response across the continent @MoetiTshidi @DrTedros @UN_Nigeria @NCDCgov @Fmohnigeria

Congratulations are in order @muhammadpate @NphcdaNG @Fmohnigeria. On behalf of @gavi partners, I’m reiterating my call for collective action to safeguard Nigeria's lives by aggressively tackling malaria to protect children, the future of Nigeria. This is indeed a significant milestone in the path towards malaria elimination. Malaria vaccines add to the already existing tools. They are safe and efficacious. I re emphasize WHO's commitment to supporting the government's efforts to reach every child with life-saving vaccines and other interventions. I urge all parents with eligible children to ensure that their children receive the malaria vaccine as part of a comprehensive health strategy. I thank the First Lady of Bayelsa, Honorable Commissioners for Health, our traditional leaders in both Bayelsa and Kebbi for exemplary leadership and for showing the way @MoetiTshidi @DrTedros @AminaJMohammed @MohamedFall @UN_Nigeria @WHONigeria
Congratulations #Nigeria for the introduction of the R21 #malaria vaccine today! It's a pivotal step towards lowering the malaria burden & protecting children's health. @WHO & partners are supporting the health authorities to reach all eligible children & bolster malaria control.

We didn’t need this now. We are devastated. Sad news for Africa and the world. We give glory to Almighty God because only Him knows why. We thank God for his life and the inspiration he brought albeit for a very short time. May his soul rest in eternal peace
Shocked and deeply saddened to learn about the sudden passing of Dr Faustine Ndugulile, @WHOAFRO Regional Director-elect. My heartfelt condolences to his family and friends, and the parliament and people of #Tanzania.
