Meet Muneeza! She’s one of our newest staff working for our
#Hulhumal
é Waste Collections team. Muneeza makes a difference in the community she calls home, by tirelessly working to collect waste from the households on the city.
#WAMCOSpotlight
We thank our community for the support today, & ask for your co-operation in the coming days. Our Road Sweepers will be out tonight to clean the streets and if we have missed any locations, please bear with us. We'll be back tomorrow and will do our best to clear the waste.
This is the amount of waste occupying the Thilafushi landfill; over 14,000,000 cubic feet of waste. An additional 21,000 cubic feet of waste goes to the landfill each day. Our waste footprint per capita is is 2 to 3 times that of other urban areas around the world.
#SaveMaldives
Our staff's feedback for day 3:
Households are not bringing down their waste for collection in the allotted time frame. It's very simple:
Step 1: Bring down your waste outside the main entrance of your house to the roadside between 1200hrs to 1400hrs.
There is no step 2 :)
🔔 In light of recent developments, we’re changing our waste collection operations. Effective today, our staff will only collect waste from the ground floor of your premises. Please ensure all household waste is double bagged and ready for collection between 12:00 – 14:00 pm.
إِنَّا لِلّهِ وَإِنَّـا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ
We are filled with deep sadness by the sudden passing of Nabeel Ibrahim, a beloved employee at WAMCO’s South Regional Office. Nabeel set an example that will continue to be an inspiration to all of us in this company.
We are delighted that Kinder Preschool has invited us to celebrate Social Worker's Week with their students - it's a pleasure to see our future generations taking to heart the importance of waste management by taking WAMCO as an inspiration!
“I faced a lot of stigma from friends and family when I told them about my decision. However, my work hours at
@WAMCOmv
, which starts in the evening, allows me the flexibility to attend to my child’s needs first, before moving on with my day.
While WAMCO is currently collecting waste from over 36,000 residences (regardless of registration) in the Greater Malé Area, we'e sad to have noticed commercial entities misusing the situation & discarding waste onto the roads during household waste, collection.
📢 New Update: Due to the developing nature of the situation across Greater Male' Area, our staff will no longer enter homes to collect waste. Therefore, please ensure all waste is double bagged and available for pickup from the roadside by 14:00 pm today.
📢 You asked, we listened. From now on, we're selling and delivering dustbin bags to you!
✨ Simply message us at 7621666 on Viber (no calls) between 10:00 am - 16:00 pm and carefully follow the instructions below graphic to receive your bags in just a few days!
The positive response shown by our customers tonight has surprised us completely. Our customers have repeatedly shown their willingness to partner with us by following our instructions. Team WAMCO applauds all customers who separated their waste tonight.

@MoEnvmv
Today we are celebrating the dedication shown by our staff, Mohamed Najid, part of the national team who brought the Bronze Medal at the Special Olympics International Football Championship in India. Sincere Congratulations for your hard earned success. You are a keeper!
I particularly love the team I work with here at Hulhumale’, who are understanding of my situation and support me even when life is tough.
Muneeza is an inspiration, for her courage in working for a position which gets stigmatized, & as one of our most hard working staff.
As mother of a child with special needs, Muneeza recalls the decision to quit her regular desk job working in the health sector and moving onto less demanding work. Working for
@WAMCOmv
was never on her list, however she gleams with pride today as she’s touted as one our finest.
📢 Gentle Reminder: Remember to double bag your waste before you set it out on the roadside.
Ensure all waste is properly packed and set out between 12:00 - 14:00 pm.
We'll be starting today's collections rounds soon.
#StayHomeStaySafe
P.S. When compared to last year we should be getting waste from more households. So we'll say it again. Don't be shy to bring down your waste! Regardless of registration, we are collecting from ALL households.
🔔 Announcement: We have temporarily closed all our waste transfer stations in Great Malé Area in light of recent developments. This closure will remain in effect until further notice. We apologize for any inconvenience caused to our valued customers.

We estimate 12,000 commercial businesses in this area. If this behaviour becomes commonplace, our staff will be under a lot of strain. We strongly urge such businesses to register under our commercial services. We're trying our best and cannot do this without everyone's support.
From the front office to the front lines, our teams have shown their true capabilities during this health emergency. We remain thankful to the hardworking
