@Happy_live_safe @Engineer_Wong @CleanAirClassrm @STEMedscot @STEMLearningUK @PassivhausTrust Haha, no worries! I get it—when you're obsessed with something, it's like being thirsty in the desert: you start seeing mirages everywhere. I was actually talking about VRC, not a purifier, but I can totally see how you'd read it that way 🙃

It's important to monitor outdoor air quality, but there is also a lack of attention to indoor air quality. Where I live, in a large apartment building, there were major renovation works that lasted for weeks. In the common areas, including the laundry room, levels exceeded 1000 µg/m³ of PM2.5. The pollution triggered false fire alarms, and the firefighters had to come to the site. My neighbor had a stroke and heart attack. A neighbor with COPD saw her condition worsen. There are children living in the building and an elderly man who is 90 years old. Thanks to Corsi-Rosenthal boxes and targeted ventilation by opening the laundry room doors and windows, I was able to help improve the situation. But people didn’t realize that the place was dangerous. I walked around with an N95 mask in the common areas.

i just discover you Jaydo air filter stats, interesting. How do you take your stats? The noise level, is it the lowest number or the higher number between sound pressure or sound power? i'd like to publish stats with the machine i've tested, dozens since may 2023 (diy air purifier), and maybe combine all the data

I know, Scott, that you don’t share my position on UV lamps. Here, we’re discussing CO₂, and I don’t want to spend too much time on this since it’s not the topic. But in one word: benefit-risk ratio. Exposure to COVID for 15 minutes can result in lifelong disability or death. Four Nukit 3W lamps, which reduce the risk and are certified ozone-free, have a calculated risk. When I install the lamps in my home, I don’t see any increase in TVOCs. I can’t measure ozone myself, but it has been tested in the lab. As for the hypothetical risk of generating formaldehyde (HCHO), if it were significant, I would see it on my monitor. Making coffee generates HCHO and TVOCs, but not the four Nukit lamps. Blow-drying my hair can raise PM levels to 100 µg/m³ at times, while the lamps increase it by no more than 1 µg/m³ in my home. Cooking often spikes TVOCs and PM to extreme levels, but the lamps do not. I don’t advocate using far-UV lamps recklessly or without proper precautions. I use them personally and believe they offer a good benefit-risk balance. If someone contracts COVID once, they can end up with a lifelong disability. Exposure can happen in as little as 15 minutes. If you’re exposed to four 3W lamps for four hours in an environment with a minimum of fresh air, you won’t end up with lifelong disability
