Virtual Desktop will always remain a one-time purchase app with free updates. I don’t have investors or shareholders so you are not going to see transitions to NFTs, crypto, web3 or any of this metaverse nonsense.

Today we are releasing a really cool update that adds upscaling to your streamed PCVR games in Virtual Desktop. We've worked with Qualcomm to bring something similar to FSR but runs on the XR2. It is called Snapdragon Game Super Resolution (SGSR) and it can work along with SSW

Some first impressions of the #AppleVisionPro : - Onboarding is simple and straightforward - No room setup, it just works - No guardian setup needed or floor height adjustment. No obnoxious and immersion breaking boundaries visible when you use it. You put it on and it works (1/4)

Just a heads up for folks using their new Quest 3 to stream PCVR games. It looks like the headset has network performance issues with routers running in Wi-Fi 5 (AC) mode. The issue disappears when switching the router to Wi-Fi 6 (AX) or Wi-Fi 6e (AXE) mode.

VR headsets today aren’t great monitor replacements. They are too heavy, not comfortable enough for long sessions and the resolution simply isn’t there. In 6-8 years, we’ve gone from 1k per eye with the Oculus DK2 in 2014 to 2k per eye with the Reverb G2 / Pico 4 today

Got the VR Air Bridge (for 150$ CAD) to give it a try and the only thing it does is add more friction to the PCVR experience. It’s worst than I thought: 🧵 1) Setup wasn’t plug & play; the Oculus app didn’t see the dongle until a computer restart even though Windows detected it.

Operating systems are usually a good inspiration to design intuitive UX for apps. Windows, macOS, iOS, etc. all have excellent design philosophies that apps tend to replicate for familiarity. The Quest OS is the exact opposite; it shows you what you should avoid.

I’m hoping the transition from 2k to 4k per eye won’t take another 8 years. Mobile SoCs are powerful enough to drive high resolution screens when the environment is rendered separately (at lower resolution) in a background layer. An XR2 could definitely drive 4k panels today.

Welp, after a few hours, it's now dead. Won't initialize in the Oculus desktop app. There's a factory reset button in the user interface (not kidding) and it also fails. Tried unplugging/replugging, computer restarts, different USB ports, etc. Nothing works.

Releasing a small update today that adds a microphone volume slider, improves Spacewarp’s automatic mode, fixes rare issue with video file streaming and some macOS specific bugs. Enjoy!

Sadly, lots of competing solutions out there want to make it a “social” experience so a lot of the horsepower is wasted rendering avatars or other useless crap. I’m guessing this is why they are waiting for more powerful hardware to ship higher resolution displays in VR headsets

- Great hand & arm occlusion, you don’t see virtual hands on top of real ones or 3 layers of hands like on Quest Pro 🙄 - Passthrough is good; no distortion issues. You need lots of light though; in medium/low light scenarios, you get what feels like high persistance (2/4)

Let's talk about how Facebook is screwing us in VR. A major use case of @BigscreenVR is like the "iTunes of VR": we offer 3D movie rentals for $4.99.

Still baffled that a lot of gamers today don’t know the difference between Wi-Fi and Internet. I don’t blame them however; networking technologies have improved so much that people don’t need to know/care about it.

Has any other Quest developer had their active user number revealed publicly, without consent, through a marketing email before? Genuinely curious..
