This is the doctor’s way of giving warm shelter, food, a warm blanket, and clean bathroom to a homeless man on the coldest night. As long as the patient is “waiting” for lab results, exams, etc… he can stay there as long as necessary, even of it took all night long.
My patient unexpectedly and suddenly died today. I had just trained his wife in preparation for his return home.
In your charity please pray for his soul and his wife and family.
And add a little prayer for his rehab team. We feel grief about this too.
And so my husband has made good on his threat and truly did sign up for RCIA.
He’s asked me to be his sponsor
First meeting is tonight
May God have mercy on us all.
@ItsEmilyKaty
1/2 As a mom of children who had to miss school for medical reasons and attend therapy, I truly get the arguments against this. And I’m on the fence about it.
I’ve always considered that acknowledging someone’s achievements doesn’t diminish yours.
@ItsEmilyKaty
2/2 should we eliminate all awards that not every child has the potential to achieve? No academic awards because of those that struggle academically? No social activism awards bc not all students have the support to do so? No sports awards?
It’s a thought I still consider
Me: why don’t we have documentation time built into our workday?
(Not current) DOT: bc that time isn’t billable
Me: so how do you bill unless I complete the documentation?
How I earned the title of being “outspoken” and “difficult” by one new DOTs first staff meeting
@Joeinblack
My husband, who is not Catholic, always goes to parents who have struggled with children having a hard time during mass and compliment them on their parenting “I know it’s not easy mom/dad, but hang in there, you are doing great”.
I wish others could be so supportive
@timotheeology
Evangelize: bringing the word of God to the people
Mary: brought the Word of God to the people. Literally. In the flesh.
And that was just the beginning.

My PT friends & praying types, my PT student’s class has been notified that their classmate is home w/ hospice. She spent 10 weeks w/ us and is very kind. Please pray for her and her family, which includes the Winston-Salem State Uni DPT class of 23 graduating 12/15.
Dear patient: when I answer “I don’t know” I really don’t know
I will not BS you with some lame explanation.
I’ll try to find a legit answer to your question as best I can.
Don’t ask me to nod my head yes to your guesses.
Be wary of anyone who never says “I don’t know”.
If you are a student to whom I gave my personal cell number to, and you text me at 11 pm to arrange hours to shadow me
I will reply at 5 am
You’re welcome.
Hey "pro-lifers"! How many unwanted children will you be adopting today? How many will you foster? Especially you single, childless guys who claim to care about "children" and "babies." We KNOW their best interests are ALL you care about, right? Sure...
@frpatrickop
My parents’ parish is large and have frequent visitors. Their priests advise that only practicing Catholics in a state of grace should come forward to receive at every mass.
There are not one hundred people in the United States who hate The Catholic Church, but there are millions who hate what they wrongly perceive the Catholic Church to be. FJ Sheen.
My employer, Encompass Health, has provided me 80 hours “COVID hours” in addition to my regular PTO earned. I can use it as desired up through Dec 31. Any COVID hours not used by this date will be reimbursed at 105%.
I made the right choice with this new job.
@KimiChernoby
During an inpt PT session, the orthopod walked in wearing jeans, shirt, leather jacket. No name tag. Pt woman in her 80s s/p ORIF femur. He walked over and lifted her gown to see the incision. No intro.
Pt slapped the shit out of him.
Lesson learned. ID yourself.

Learning to work with people that have different personality traits, social skills, and preference’s is a life experience- expanding skill. So sad this being reinforced with labels.
Spent 30 min w/ a pt I know well chatting vs. treating. Her husband is dying. She is going to discontinue PT to be at his side.
The most productive 30 minutes of my work day today was “unbillable” listening and a hug.
Sometimes productivity cannot be quantified.
Dad served for nearly 29 years in the Army flying Hueys and Chinooks. He served 2 tours in Viet Nam. This was extremely important to him. His friends have told us he was a hero, but he never spoke about it.
He passed away 3 weeks ago today. It feels like forever already.
@CCityCatholic
Thank God Catholicism isn’t restricted to 1930s Western European aesthetics.
The Catholic Chirch in Africa has grown by 8.3 million as of last year. 19% of the world’s Catholics.
Maybe they are “doing it right”
I started my doctorate in the ICU waiting room between visiting hours w/ Dad. He passed several months later. Today a friend, who flew w/ him for decades sent me a Congrats card for graduating saying he was proud of me. It was almost like Dad sending the message.
The good stuff in inpt rehab: my pt’s spouse is also in the same rehab. The other PT and I coordinate sessions together practicing helping each other w/ their daily routines: helping take blood sugars, put on prosthesis, make a meal....
This is why I’m a PT.
@ProtoApostoli
I want to express my deepest gratitude to my parish priest when he came to visit me in the hospital and brought me the Eucharist.
To have the Sacrament brought by your own priest is indescribably relieving.
Thank you to all the priests who’ve done this.
3 yrs vertigo, nausea and vomiting. CT, MRI, endoscopy, referral to psych. During PT eval explained BPPV and our plan and prognosis. 2 weeks later no vertigo or vomiting. Back to yoga. “You are the first to listen to me. I thought I was crazy”.

Pt w/ dementia being chastised for rating her pain 10/10.
RN: you mean you’ve never had worse pain than this?
Pt: *sobbing: only when my child died.
Speechless.
Pt refusing therapy, very angry at everyone.
She and I chat and instead of asking if she’s angry I asked if she was scared or sad.
She couldn’t remember something very important and felt “stupid” and embarrassed.
She agreed to therapy in private sessions.

Same sentiments here. Jesus offered both his Body and Blood under both species at the Last Supper when he instituted the priesthood and the Holy Eucharist. So, for those reasons (🤷🏻♀️) I miss it and would like to see it’s return when prudent.
Person at my door in suit and tie: do you have a personal relationship w/ Jesus?
Me: Yes, so personal I consume his flesh and blood regularly.
*gets on his bike and leaves ….
Humans have inherent dignity and should be treated with dignity. They don’t “earn” it by their physical capabilities.
Hence, people are not “burdens” but are, at the least, our responsibility and even more our opportunity to serve and protect.
You sir are monstrous.
Maybe old people shouldn’t all commit seppuku, but we need to think creatively about how they can have dignity in a world where many are only burdens. With technological change becoming more rapid, they no longer even have wisdom to offer young generations. Need new solutions.

The only heads of state invited was from Germany and Italy bc Pope Emeritus Benedict didn’t wan t his funeral to be a huge state affair. In the interest of full truth, please delete this tweet as it is misrepresenting the intentions.
Somehow I have made it 53 years with most of my original parts and a few brain cells, a couple hard lessons, an ever growing family , and friends all over this planet.
I do not deserve these blessings, but here we are.

Perhaps the best answer is to ask this patient how he felt about what was said and done vs speaking for this individual. Perhaps this man and this ER staff already have a relationship.
My husband’s grandmother is 102 and is mostly sleeping and no longer eating.
In your charity please pray for a peaceful death and comfort to her very loving family.

There was a mom struggling with a fussy toddler during the homily and stood apparently to leave when Fr. Chris Navarro asked for the child, out her on his hip, and continued the homily. Fussing stopped and adults taught.
Helpful things to know but you don’t learn in PT school: (feel free to add)
1. Suction a trach
2. Manage PEG tube
3. Stand nonchalantly in a bathroom while pt poops
4 Change hearing aid batteries
5 ignore a fart
6 see fear even when it manifests as anger
7 comb someone’s hair
. I’ll receive my DPT Friday
. I started piano lessons while studying for my NCS in my 50s
. I get a tattoo every 27 years
. My debate team made the DoDS European finals
. Ive trained in judo, aikido, escrima, and Wing-Tsun
5 things you probably don't know about me:
• I have 1/3rd of an MBA
• I have a degree in Journalism & Mass Communication
• I finished 6 marathons & 2 Ironman Triathlons
• I have 2 uvulas
• My 2 fav interviews were both named Dave (Grohl & Matthews)
Now tell me about YOU!
A month ago I asked for prayers on behalf of my kind neighbor. She had surgery for a breast cancer.
Thank you so much for all those that prayed and kept her in your heart
She texted and said she is cancer free, no radiation or chemo prescribed as of now.
Amen

For those that think porn is victimless. For those that think “sex work” is respectable..... it does not respect these women in the industry but uses them til they die. Literally.
Stop feeding and defending the porn industry
If addicted, there is loving help
What I learned in CCU today: if a pt with Alzheimer’s is confused and upset and reaches to hold your hand while you are doing the PT eval, you stop and hold his hand for awhile. After a few minutes you get a smile.
@emdeardo
So I work at a rehab hospital. I work this weekend. I am currently scurrying to mass right this moment, skipping lunch break to make it,and will be wearing scrubs looking tired and disheveled, because I will be working tomorrow during all the Sunday mass times. Give me a break!
Stop diagnosing “vertigo” w/ a “positive Hallpike-Dix” and prescribing Meclazine “for the rest of your life”
Also, Eply’s isnt the fix for all things nystagmus.
Soldier passed out during Boston marathon, kidney failure, ventilated. Met him in IRF covering weekend. Became his outpt PT. Months later ran for first time on TM. Biggest smile I ever saw! Back to full duty as a soldier.

Gotta love this job💕
@adamcifu
1. You have “vertigo” here is Meclizine/ Valium and now you have to live with it forever.
2. You have “vertigo” & and I’ll solve it w/ putting your ear crystals back in place w/ an Eply bc your Hallpike-Dix was “positive”.
@CatholicKansas
Dear “failed” father: my Catholic Mom married a non-Catholic, who converted 30 yrs later. I married a non-Catholic who converted this Easter.
Rejection of this young man is showing a lack of faith
Lunchtime rant:
Pt went to ER bc sudden dizziness N&V, weakness and visual changes. Neg CT. Told it was vertigo, told how to do an “aply” and given Meclezine and sent home
Let’s play guess the real diagnosis and why Gay Lynn is yet again pulling out her hair.
Hello fellow Twitter folks of the praying kind.... my husband’s Uncle Ken is very ill, too ill for therapeutic intervention at this time. There are heavy hearts among the Schlossers and thrnMcCloskys tonight.
In your charity please send up any little prayer. 💕
As a physical therapist, we are often afforded many opportunities to do meaningful things a day
Yesterday did not feel like one of those days.
But for one: combing out a pt’s hair before I took her to the gym to meet her husband for family training. And that was pretty good

There are over 900 abortions a day in just the USA. Tell me how many of those were to save the life of the mother, no other options?
