Watching this snafu from 8,600km away I can see why ZA is uninvestable. The biggest loser is not the IEC but the average honest upright South African who no doubt will be subject to more tax, water and power cuts, potholes and shambolic governance for the foreseeable future

@hazelwood_dave If there is one lesson that I have learnt in nearly 3 decades of trading .... it is that the Oppenheimers' are seldom losers in dealing in their own shares. Short term it often looks grim for them, but long term it is a different story

@SimonPB I remember that Friday too. I was on the phone to one of the major ALSI players. The ping on the Reuters machine had us both go quiet. A few seconds passed and he says to me "I'll call you back ... I'm short of DBR and ALSI futures" He still managed to keep his job
