Imagine being a restaurant owner.
The curfew is at 21h so you probably need to close shop at 20h.
But wait! You've got loadshedding from 18h to 20h.
Oh yes, and you can't sell wine or beer.
This is the reality of many restaurateurs.
"Eskom is asking consumers to delay starting up inverter and battery systems when electricity returns after load shedding to avoid a demand peak after every planned blackout."
That will be a resounding No from my side.

All I see is 14 out of 15 players who don't have a World Cup trophy to return to. This is like handing out participation medals.
Imagine being the owner of a small restaurant.
For almost 4 months the gov has closed your shop. Now that you may open under strict conditions, they turn off your electricity.
You can't win.
This is 100% true, especially in SA.
You can visit the most beautiful farm and only fork out R50 to spend the day there while enjoying a few wines.
Also when buying wines, we have some proper gems. Here's a few wines that that has gem status:
Such a talented Cabinet we have here in South Africa where a Minister who specialises in Tourism can takeover a Health ministry during a global health pandemic.
And that's it for me folks. Thanks very much for following along and thanks for the supportive comments along the way. Incredible election. Privilege to have been here for it.
I'm writing up a detailed analysis for News24 which we will publish in the coming days.
Using the underlying data from Stats SA, I've set up an Index to track the price change of a Braaibroodjie.
I've used approximate weights to allocate a percentage weight to all the underlying ingredients you would use.
Going back to 2017, the price of a braaibroodjie peaked in
I don't do New Years resolutions, but I have one for 2021.
Continue to move most of my spending to small and family owned businesses. Businesses most affected by lockdown without any support from government.
Many people have already started doing this. We can make a difference.
A machine that produces driving licence cards has broken down. This was revealed by the department of transport on Wednesday, saying it could take up to three weeks to fix the machine.
Ramaphosa says he and minister Gwede Mantashe believe it's a good idea to create a 2nd power generation state owned entity to relieve the burden from Eskom.
Braaibroodjie Index update:
I'm sorry, I have some bad news... During April, the price of a braaibroodjie hit a new all time high as the price increased by +4.3%! This despite inflation being only +0.3% and Food Inflation +0.2%.
The reason we are seeing this spike is because
Earlier this week I told my wife what a great place 🇿🇦 is to live in. I have no intention of moving.
That very evening they broke into our home while we're sleeping and stole the usual stuff (laptops, tablets, etc.).

You kuier till 12am with a friend. At 12 the friend takes out 7 bottles of brandy and 1 liter of coke and says, "ons gaan nou braai".
That's basically what's happening to the other teams when we bring on our 7/1 split.
You know when you go away for the weekend with friends. You leave after work and drive maybe 2 hours to your destination. You get there, and it's dark already and you light the fire. Those first night kuiers always hit differently.

Loadshedding has been suspended for nearly 3 months now. Irrespective of the reasons or narratives, this is impressive and should have a broad positive effect on the economy.
Loadshedding is an inflationary force, without it, we can expect positive contributions to GDP and CPI.
Despite being up 9%, the price of Woolies is still below that of a packet of Chuckles (R60).
The Price/Chuckles ratio is by far the best valuation metric to use for WHL.

Over the last 3 years the discount of 1 Woolies Share to a pack of Chuckles has been around 10% - 20%.
The price of a pack of Chuckles is R85 while the Woolworths share price is around R68.
Buying a pack of Chuckles in 2020 would've been a better investment than the shares.
