I had the best time at
#HertsPride2021
at the weekend!🏳️🌈 I'm proud of my sexuality & sharing this. I wanted to document my journey so far & acknowledge the massive range of emotions I've felt. To anyone that is experiencing that your feelings, journey & identity are valid.❤
@KatyMontgomerie
@OwenJones84
And we get told time and time again that the ‘reasonable concern’ crowd don’t want to take away our existing rights they just don’t want us to have any further well this is an open admission they want to take away every single bit of legal protection trans people have
@megawolverine
@MartinDaubney
@Unlocked_UK_
Do u understand how mad that Map is. I can tell you with 100% certainty that New York & Hawaii are not going to go Red. Last two UK votes which ones where they? In 2019 polls where correct. 2016 polls showed EU ref was close. Some people don’t seem to understand probabilities
Thank you to the people of Seacombe last night. I’m honoured to be your Labour & Co-operative Councillor
Thank you to the 1755 who voted for me! (I topped the ballot) but also thank you to the people of Seacombe for putting their faith in Labour, electing all three of us 🐝🌹
Jesus the cranks are so desperate to cling onto some hope that Labour is running out of activists but it isn’t. I’ve been in Wakefield this weekend, I’ve seen a steady stream of members in and out of the office most doing 2-3 rounds per visit to the constituency.
There are just six canvassers in this photo and the candidate. Three of them are MPs. There's a striking lack of grassroots members turning out to campaign for Labour in this crucial byelection.
thank you to Young Fabian members for their support in this election. I’m delighted to have been elected to the
@youngfabians
Exec alongside other brilliant members. Commiserations to those unsuccessful. A massive thank you to
@MarkWhittaker10
and the outgoing Exec for their work
@CountBinface
Fair play to count Binface the joke candidates at election don’t usually actually make me laugh but Binface 100% does and shows the quirky delights of British politics and beating fascism will always be a good day.
Enjoy your breakfast.
Massive congratulations to
@angelaeagle
on her election to the NEC. I know she’ll do a fine job of representing the PLP as she does representing Wallasey in the Commons.
No Labour Councillor I’ve ever met wants to cut services but we must set a legal budget under law. I didn’t enter politics to play with people’s jobs and services by handing power to Tory government.
Councillors should rightly be suspended if they refuse to set a legal budget
@slipkn0t8
@TinaBhartwas
@LGBTLabour
Did you seriously just say a young BAME working class woman is coming from a privileged position? What privileged position would this be? I’m obviously not a trans woman, but no one here is asking to take away anyones rights, we’re just asking for some respect for other humans
@MattScottMusic
@lara_eleanor
Open Selections would have had no bearing on the Bassetlaw selection. It already was a full selection as incumbent was standing down. The Members democratically selected & then the NEC overturned it & imposed the losing candidate....RLB hasn’t called to end NEC impositions
@robfordmancs
It’s been quite common unfortunately Green Party have started doing it too using canvassing returns as polls then putting them on leaflets. Which is so much worse than the standard Lib Dem Bar Chart tactic
How has this tweet only got 14 retweets? But on a serious note it’s amazing how out of touch an entire section of our Party is, they genuinely believe their twitter echo chambers are representative. When they aren’t even representive of Labour’s members never mind the electorate
I’m pleased to announce I’m standing for
@youngfabians
Executive Committee, I have been a Member for several years, only able to become engaged more due to Lockdown. The Young Fabians cannot return to business as usual, online platforms must become regular part of our outreach
To not one’s surprise I didn’t get elected to
@OpenLabour
National Committee. Commiserations to my fellow candidates who didn’t make it and congratulations to those who did, I know the Committee is in safe hands. I’m proud of the campaign I ran.
Great to meet
@DrRosena
at todays Leadership Hustings, she reminded us all of what Labour Governments mean for our communities & why we must win power in order to give Hope to those who need a Government that values & cares about them. I’m proud to giving her my 1st preference
Absolutely gutted to have not been re-elected as Disability Officer of North West Young Labour.
I am proud of the accountability I brought to the committee during my term. I’ll never stop fighting for a more inclusive, democratic & accountable NWYL.🌹
Just been to my local polling station and voted Labour and Co-operative 🐝 🌹 for
@emilyspurrell
and of course just Labour 🌹 for the excellent
@MetroMayorSteve
Good luck both and to every Labour candidate standing for election today
Attended first Council meeting. Picked up my ID ready to get to work.
Congratulations to Cllr Jerry Williams on being elected Mayor tonight! I look to the civic year ahead.
This is something I’ve been picking up from voters in other parts of the country when I’m phone banking, a lot still express anger about Corbyn, even when I explain he’s gone (and isn’t even a Labour MP anymore) they just express anger that we’d ever allowed him to become leader
Mostly voters seem angry - at the Conservatives and Johnson, but also at Labour. There was much more mention of Corbyn than I’d anticipated - all of it negative. Hard to overstate the anger towards him and to Labour for allowing him to ruin their trust in the party. /4
Really honoured to have been elected Disability Officer of NW Young Labour. Congratulations to everyone else elected I look forward to working with you all. And commiserations to those who stood but where unsuccessfully you are all a credit to our movement. ✊🚩🌹
Amazing day with team Wirral in Blackpool!
18,000 steps later I’m in need of a good rest.
Good luck
@ChrisPWebb
I’ve lost count of number of rounds I’ve done in Blackpool South today.
There is still time to go vote to send this government the message that time is running out.
Garston and Halewood CLP nominates:
• Keir Starmer to be leader of the Labour Party
• Angela Rayner to be deputy leader of the Labour Party
This CLP nominated Yvette Cooper in 2015 and Jeremy Corbyn in 2016.
Just been to cast ballot in General Election 2019. I voted for Hope, an end to Brexit and an end to austerity. I voted for
@angelaeagle
vote to stop the Tories today!
#GE2019
Excited to announce I’ve got the backing of the
@CoopParty
& will be running as the Labour & Co-operative candidate for Clatterbridge. Thank you to Clatterbridge Labour & the Wirral Co-operative Party for their support
Join the Co-operative Party here
Rain and wind don’t stop Labour working all year round in Bebington. Warm reception on the doors. People only see Labour working hard for the people of Wirral.
Attended the Liverpool vigil in memory of
#BriannaGhey
tonight.
Despite the grief of the past few days, the number of people, so very diverse gave me some comfort, we showed that our community is united, that no amount of lies can break us down.
#translivesmatter
#LGBWithTheT
I must say seeing those attacking Keir for issuing a video thanking our armed forces is odd. It’s not Blue Labour to say that we cannot win without the votes of those who are patriotic. I want to change our country BECAUSE I’m proud of it, I want us to be the better I know we can
Great finish to the 4th round of the day! Amazing support for
@ChrisPWebb
so many life long conservatives coming to Labour in order to
#GetBritainsFutureBack
After a virtual meeting of our members, Wirral Young Labour has decided to back the following candidates for this year's NEC elections. Thanks to everyone who came along!
@kira_millana
@YoungLabour4FS
@jeremycorbyn
Now we need Labour to do a press release outlining this, in clear terms! Calling for Remain & reform etc. It needs to be crystal clear
Thank you to Delegates at Wallasey CLP’s AGM for unanimously re-electing me as Chair of the CLP. Congratulations to all other Officers elected this year. With all out elections coming up in May, our CLP is going to focus on returning Labour to overall control of Wirral Council.
6 rounds done in Wakefield! My legs are sore but the response on the doors was rejuvenating! So many people are supporting our brilliant candidate
@simonlightwood
Still an hour and a half to vote! So get out and send the Tories a message today by voting Labour🌹🌹🌹🌹
Tonight I attended my first
@NWYoungLab
Committee meeting as the Disability Officer. You can find my report here
If you have any questions, please send me a message. I’m also more than happy to attend your local Young Labour Branch meetings to answer any questions.
I’m standing for
@OpenLabour
National Committee again this year.
My key pledges are:
Working to expand the diversity of OL’s Membership, including getting fellow North Western’s voices on the national committee.
Giving regular reports on National Committee meetings
Great time out in West Lancashire this morning! The response on the doors delightful, voters are angry with a Tory Party’s wrong priorities and their mismanagement of the economy.
#VoteLabour
#labourdoorstep
Now that the Open Labour National Committee election is over. I want to announce that I’m completely focused on
@AnnBlackLabour
campaign for the NEC. Ann is a brilliant activitist & her being elected to the NEC would go a long way to restore my faith in the Party & politics
@BBCPolitics
Why is the BBC giving endless coverage to Tice. Everyone knows I’m no fan of the Lib Dem’s and especially not the Greens but they have actually been winning stuff (sometimes off us) where is their long interviews and coverage
What a stressful experience so glad my dissertation is completed.
Thank you to all
@CoopParty
members who participated in the research by filling in the survey or agreeing to be interviewed.
Ballots drop today for
#YoungLabour
National Committee Elections.
I’m honoured to have the support of 27 Young Labour Branches and CLPs across the Country.
Make sure you vote for me! It’s time Young Labour’s National Committee was
#transparent
. I’ll deliver that
Thanks to everyone who came out to Seacombe this morning. Lovely to chat with residents about what Labour is doing all year around for our community.
#labourdoorstep
#WinningonWirral
#WOW23
I want to thank Members of the Young Fabian Disability Advocacy Group for electing me as their Chair. We have some exciting events planned for the New Year. Please send me DM if you’d like to get involved.
As always Erin is spot on. I certainly voted differently to Erin in these elections but We all need to remember we’re all Labour, I have far more in common with Erin politically than divides us.
Civica ran these ballots if they are rigged then so are union strike ballots
Well that’s it polls have closed in Birmingham Erdington! Across the campaign I knocked on many doors and rang many phones, voters know only Labour and
@PauletteHamilto
will stand up for Erdington against this out of touch Tory Government.
Excited to announce I’m running to be Disability Rep on OLNW Committee.
I want to ensure OLNW is active in spreading open politics across our region. I want to build links with Trade Unions in the NW & ensure we are inclusive for disabled members. No return to business as usual
After being asked by several people to put myself forward I’m really excited to announce 📣 I’m running for the Young Fabian Executive Committee.
More details on my campaign to follow shortly. Any questions please get in touch.
Give me your 1st preference
So excited for tonight’s session on the GFA. Fantastic panelist’s but as a Graduate from
@LivUni
I’m really excited to listen to
@JonTonge
it’s great Jon has helped with this project. Massive thanks to
@labourirish
and
@LouHaigh
on getting this project up running.
I’m immensely proud of you coming out Tina. It’s so important that people can see their elected representatives are like them. 🏳️🌈 Also as an Asexual to see a councillor who is Asexual is really heart warming 💜. I think this makes you the first open Ace Councillor in UK
Photos from Young Fabian Boat Party are great and capture the wonderful time I had meeting so many Young Fabians for the first time plus finding out all about the exciting things Hertfordshire has to offer from Councillor Bhartwas 🌹🚢 🎉 🥂
Labour's NEC is set to decide whether it should switch to a preferential voting system for electing local party representatives, as urged by Open Labour, the Electoral Reform Society, Compass and Labour MPs including Clive Lewis:
Is there a better way to spend your lunch break then hitting the phones to make sure the fabulous co-operator
@ruthhall1
gets elected?
Polls open till 10pm in Hillhead today get out & vote
@ScottishLabour
&
@ScotCoopParty
today!
Right now back to my day job empowering co-ops!
@_Dylan_T
sorry to hear this, absolutely not on. Someone who changes their name because of pretty much any other reason wouldn’t get this but the second it’s because our names don’t align with our gender & suddenly it’s an issue. Solidarity with you always Dylan. DM if you need to talk
Not sure this is best use of NOLS Twitter.
I am delighted to young people are engaging with the future of progressive ideas in our party. But we’d been outraged (and rightly so) if same thing was done with World Transformed. so I want us to be better than the previous YL & LS
We had a great turnout from Labour Students at
@progbrit
conference yesterday!
Our members heard from Labour figures about our progressive policy agenda to get Britain’s future back.
Thank you to everyone who organised and contributed! 🌹🇬🇧
Thanks to North West Young Fabian Members for electing me as Disability Officer at the inaugural AGM. Looking forward to working with the excellent Committee lots of exciting events coming down the pipeline.
This is an absolutely beautiful photo. Two amazing civil rights campaigners who we lost within a few weeks of each other this year.
The world is truly a better place for having had them in it. They helped transform their communities.
The last photo I had taken of John Hume was on the 24.04.2014. Congressman John Lewis with John Hume on the steps of 1st Derry Presbyterian Church.
#civilrightsheroes
Congratulations
@DebbieCookeFaz
on your election.
What a brilliant result. The first test of the new Labour administration of
@liamrobinson24
and voters have voted to continue the excellent work that administration is already making for the city
Fantastic Socialist Society Action day. As the National Co-ordinator of the
@youngfabians
and Conference Delegate for
@labourirish
it was pleasure to join friends from across Labour’s affiliates to get
@PauletteHamilto
elected as Erdington’s next MP.
After much thought and consideration and after being asked to by several members I’ve put myself forward again for the Young Fabian NEC.
The Young Fabians can be the natural home of the progressive policies that will shape the 2030s but only if we vote for change.
@DawnHFoster
Speaking as a Scouser, Liverpool is city full of lovely welcoming people. This tweet is rude & impolite.
@michael_chessum
is welcome to Liverpool anytime, with an attitude like that towards fellow lefties I’m not sure you’d really fit in.
Really lovely to show
@TinaBhartwas
around the wonders of the Liverpool City Region. Where else can you do good pints🍻 Museums, Art galleries 🖼 and Tudor Mansions
Thank you to Members of
@SeacombeLabour
for selecting me on Sunday to be your candidate for the upcoming local elections in May 2023 alongside Cllr Paul Stuart and
@VickyGarrad
I cannot wait to get stuck in
Thanks to the
@CoopParty
for backing me to be a Councillor in Seacombe this May. I’m delighted to be a Labour and Co-operative candidate.
Our co-op movement has much to offer Wirral, the sharing of both wealth and power from high street to homes.
Sick of being told what to do by older members. I’m bored of older members telling young members what we think (or supposed to think), telling us who we are allowed to vote for to represent us & telling us when we’re allowed to campaign & advertise YL to new Young members
Massive congratulations to Will Noble! What an amazing swing. Fantastic effort by all in the Plymouth Labour Party. Voters are sick and tired of a shambolic Tory Government in Westminster and chaotic Tory administration in the Council chamber.
So multiple Labour Left twitter account with sizeable numbers of followers have not taken down their tweets or retweets of the nonsense story about Keir Starmer. These accounts used to scream about fake news against Corbyn so why not call out fake news now?
@LouiseBaldock
@martinrankinLAB
@LouiseRawAuthor
Councillors are the true unsung heroes of our Party. They see Austerity for what it means they feel it, having to decide how best to mitigate its worst effects. Massive respect for Any Labour Councillor (who puts the hard graft in) no matter what wing of the party.
3 Labour and Co-operative candidates in this house!
There is still time to also apply to be a
@CoopParty
candidate in this May’s local elections Let’s get more co-operators elected
Glorious sunshine in Rochdale canvassing for excellent Labour and Co-operative candidate
@paulwaugh
So many residents angry at George Galloway and know that only Labour offers the change Britain and Rochdale needs
NEW:
Green Party London Assembly Member Sian Berry has resigned her seat just 3 days after winning it.
She is also the Green Party's candidate for Brighton Pavilion in the General Election.
@RedWoman1552
@AndyMilesco
@Skybluerick1
Kier backed an opponent in a democratic leadership challenge. After Corbyn won he then returned to the front bench & served loyally unlike many who kept sulking on the backbenches
I want to thank
@WirralYoungLab
members for electing me as Secretary. It’s been a pleasure to serve as Campaigns Officer for the past year. I want to send my congratulations to
@willglloyd
on his election as my successor.
Well actually we teach Science and the scientific method. I know Sophie that you obviously fell asleep in Biology, but you see Teachers teach science, vaccines are safe, effective and work.
Party rules don’t state how the NEC is to be elected. It’s correct that a rule change needs conference approval but this isn’t a rule change. I cannot believe these unions are going to spend their Members’ money to fight against greater democracy in the party in court
One, Sophia Bolton, says: “It is utterly wrong to propose sneaking through sweeping changes to our party’s constitution while our backs are turned. Party rules are clear that they can only be changed at annual conference.”
There is nothing Christian in denying people healthcare to support them in who they are. We are all unique God loves all his children he loves diversity, all the rich and colourfulness of this world. Although we face a tough fight ahead, we will get there. We can beat transphobia
