Dewald Brevis' dad, Okker, says they have a "big problem" in their household now.
"I support KKR and my eldest son, Reinardt, is a massive CSK supporter. My wife Yolanda has been a Mumbai fan for years."
Dewald was picked up by Mumbai Indians for R6 million at the IPL auction.

In 2015 Aiden Markram & Heinrich Klaasen shared a 2 bedroom flat in Centurion, living off R6k-R8k pm, and some fuel & food vouchers. They couldn't get a contract. Klaasen wanted to quit. Markram wanted to go overseas.

Aphiwe Dyantyi today said something that'll stick with me: "I learnt never to glorify my struggles, because everyone has struggles in life." Could've easily given a list of all he had to overcome. Chose not to. Chose to find a way to the top. May he stay there, where he belongs.
It's no coincidence that SA U19 star Dewald Brevis' style resembles that of AB de Villiers.
"I know Dewald well, I've been his mentor for 2 years," says De Villiers.
They've had many net sessions together. AB has been to the Brevis house, which has a cricket net in the backyard.
When Temba Bavuma injured his hamstring at the World Cup, it was impossible to get any information from the team about the severity of the injury. We couldn't even find out if he went for a scan. It was like a state secret. And now here we are again. Nobody communicates to fans.
Eben Etzebeth racked up the most playing minutes by any Bok this year. That's because he asked to play in the Bloem test, so that he could reach his 100th in CT. The reason is that it's difficult for his dad, Harry, to travel. He wanted to achieve the milestone with him there.
Keegan Petersen had a tough night before the 4th day of the 3rd Test. He went to bed at 23:00, woke up full of anxiety at 02:00. He thought of everything that could go wrong, all that could go right. Only fell asleep at 05:00.
A few hours later, he achieved a childhood dream.
I don't get the narrative that the Boks don't score.
🏴: 2 tries to 0
🇮🇪: 1 try each
🇫🇷: 4 tries to 3
🏴: 1 try to 0
🇳🇿: zero tries to 1.
Only got outscored in final. Outscored exciting, running 🇫🇷 & 🏴 teams. Scored as many as Ireland with their super attack structure.
We spoke to numerous sources with firsthand knowledge about the security arrangements for the U19 Cricket World Cup. There was no evidence of an increased risk to the tournament if David Teeger had stayed SA captain.
This is not something you see every day! A Frenchman in a Bok jersey here at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai, ready to support the Proteas vs England. Listen what he says about the Boks' quarter final 😂
Do India really believe SuperSport somehow manipulated DRS? Like, really? Why didn't the broadcaster do something when SA appealed for a caught behind after thinking Virat nicked one down the legside yesterday.
It's been said a few times now, but Temba Bavuma was brilliant in his post match presser. Starting with his decision to face the media even though Anrich Nortjé was originally going to do the presser.
Temba is a top man.

The relationship between the Proteas & CSA board is at boiling point. Members of the team feel people in their environment have been hung out to dry recently & that the board is self-serving. This is according to various sources spoken to after Quinton de Kock's Test retirement.
If your only measure of success at a WC is winning the trophy, SA failed. Statistically though, you could say it was their best campaign ever. The team also had a seriously impressive mindset, which will stand them in good stead in the future.
We talk about Eben's physicality a lot, but there's much more to him. He's a smart rugby player with a lot of skill, like he showed under the high ball tonight. His discipline is outstanding, contrary to popular belief. Has a huge engine & an inspirational leader. What a player.
This is one of the biggest turnarounds ever in Test cricket.
Of 53 teams that have lost by an innings and 200+ runs, 10 won their next Test, of which only 4 were within the same series:
1998 - Aus lost to Ind by innings & 219 runs, then won the next Test by 8 wickets.

Failures of leadership, a lack of temperament, technical and tactical ineptitude. It was the same old South African World Cup story, unfolding under the watch of an incompetent captain, Temba Bavuma, writes

Keshav says he was never nervous, had the utmost confidence in Lungi and Shamsi.
Shammo says he was seeing the ball better than he has ever in his life.
Never in doubt 😂
@TightFive_Rugby
Sheesh, bit harsh on France and Ireland I'd say. Both lost one game by close a margin against the finalists, after beating the other finalist in the pools. Suppose you measured it on expectation and sqaud strength? Would still give both a B+ at least.
CSA withdraws disciplinary charges against Mark Boucher. The governing body found no basis to sustain any of the charges against him. CSA will contribute to his legal costs.
I honestly don't get why people are angry with Duanne Olivier for saying he would want to play for England 2 years ago. He thought his international career with SA was over. He tried to carve out a new career in England. Why wouldn't he aim to play international cricket again?
Got to feel for Ryan Rickelton. Can't be great for morale to be part of the squad for 2 series as back-up batsman after averaging 118.25 in the 4-day series, just to see another guy leapfrogged into the team when a spot opens up. Probably wonders what more he has to do.
SA conceded 104 runs in the last 9 overs, after having the Netherlands on 140/7. SA lost their top 4 in 21 deliveries for 8 runs after a start of 36/0 in 7.5.
Fatal lapses in concentration. Also looked like a lack of intensity and energy.
Allahudien Paleker had to make 27 decisions in his debut Test between SA & India at the Wanderers. He got 26 of them spot on.
It was an emotional build-up for him, as his mom, Aleweyah, passed away exactly 2 months before the Test.

culture is one of inclusivity, built on the I see colour campaign.

South Africa's cricketers are concerned about the future of their sport. They passed a resolution tasking the SA Cricketers' Association to do a complete review of the domestic game.
Spelers: ‘Red ons sport!’
Sometimes I'm quite proud to be South African. Like when a Bok presser ends with a Xhosa question from
@Sbu_Mjikeliso
to Lukhanyo Am, followed by an Afrikaans question from
@Percyoung
to Faf de Klerk. And both players seem to try & listen attentively to their team mates' answer.

Mapimpi has now scored 22 tries in 31 tests. The player who scored 20 or more tries with the second fewest test caps, is Pieter Rossouw (21 tries in 43 tests). Only 7 guys ahead of Mapimpi. And at the rate he's going, he might catch 4 of them before the end of the year.

The Boks not allowing any questions re Elton at pressers is ridiculous. It's the biggest rugby story of the week. It can have an impact on the teams' preparations. JN is the national coach. Surely he's able to comment on the issue? It's not going away just because they ignore it.
Don't really get the criticism on Temba. Looks a perfect fit to open the innings with QdK. He scores freely all around the ground against pace or spin. He has excellent game and situational awareness and runs between the wickets like a Jack Russell. Pen his name down, Bouch!
Proteas not considering dropping Temba Bavuma.
"He's been one of our best batsmen all year," Rob Walter said.
He's not wrong... Temba scored the most runs with the best average of all the South African batsmen from January until the start of the World Cup.

From the ICC: In today's match between South Africa and Pakistan, an incomplete graphic was erroneously displayed during the LBW review of Rassie van der Dussen.
The completed graphic with the right details was ultimately displayed.
After figures of 0/66 in 12 overs on his first day of Test cricket, Lutho Sipamla hit back excellently with figures of 10/101 in 27.5 overs for the remainder of the series. Showed great fighting spirit. And he's just 22. Find of the series.

Ashwell Prince on whether Kyle Verreynne can play Tests as a specialist bat: "Yes he absolutely can! Why? In my humble opinion I rate him inside the top 3 batters in the country & I don’t mean young batters, I mean all batters, including those who played in the Tests vs Pak."
Ryan Rickelton was the golf at Sun City a day before the squad announcement for the Aus series when he got a call from Victor Mpitsang asking why there's a "medical cross" next to his name. He explained his ankle issue, that he and his surgeon has a plan and that he can play.
After his first 4 Tests, Kyle Verreynne saw many opinions about his performances on social media. "Technique is shocking, how does he average 50 domestically, Test cricket isn't for him."
It affected him mentally. So when he reached his 100 vs NZ, a lot of emotion came out.
Very happy for Marais Erasmus, who will stand in the final or the T20 WC. He adds it to an impressive resume that includes the finals of the 2017 CT, 2019 WC and 2021 WTC.
Top class consistency.

Why are SA coaches so popular world-wide? I asked Mickey Arthur, Lance Klusener & Heinrich Malan. A few things stand out: SA coaches are hardworking and innovative, the find a way and they know how to accommodate and respect different cultures & religions.
Interesting to hear Rob Walter say Quinton de Kock wanted to retire from all international cricket after the WC. Rob talked him out of it, presumably with the eye on the T20 World Cup next year. That might be his swansong.
Cricket South Africa had to send out two media statements "welcoming developments regarding taking the knee", because they misspelled Quinton de Kock's name in the first statement.
Dean Elgar, the coaches and selectors made two big decisions in for Test - batting first and playing with a spinner. Both were met by surprise, but both are really paying off.
The Indian cricket team will stay in the Proteas' favorite hotel in Gauteng, the Irene Country Lodge. It has 14 ha of wide open spaces, grass areas, two small lakes with lots of fish, jogging trails, a boma for braaiing, and even a farm across the road to ease bubble life.

Writing for an Afrikaans audience can sometimes be disheartening. Since the team took a knee, the schadenfreude in the comment section has been real when they lose. It's obviously not everyone but the verkramptes are there. So this comment from Omie warmed my heart this morning.
2008 - Ind lost to SL by innings & 239 runs, then won the next Test by 170 runs.
2017 - WI lost to Eng by innings & 209 runs, then won the next Test by 5 wickets.
2022 - SA lost to NZ by innings & 276 runs, then won the next Test by 198 runs.

Difficult to do that if you've never even played a Test.

Tabraiz Shamsi didn't concede a single boundary in his eight overs in the previous two T20's against the West Indies. Considering the WI's firepower, that's extraordinary.

We actually did interview quite a few people who were at Twickenham. They all said the atmosphere, the game, the singing - everything was up there with the best they've ever experienced. Reckon they feel they got their money's worth. This must be the worst take out there.

The ECB has officially notified the counties that Kolpak agreements will expire on 31 December, when the Brexit transitional period is set to end.
This marks the end of an era for South African cricket, with quality players being available for national selection again. (1/3)
There is no reason for keeping it under wraps. What possible advantage could India have gained by knowing whether or not Temba was going to bat? Zero. Stinks of just not caring enough about your supporters to keep them in the loop.
The Indian tour to SA was saved during a marathon meeting between CSA and the BCCI on Friday. The 1st Test will start on 26 Dec at SS Park. The New Year's Test will probably be at the Wanderers from 3 Jan, followed by the 3d Test in CT, possibly to start 11 Jan.
Eduard Coetzee, CEO of the Sharks, says his players have almost all been affected by the floods in KZN, but many of them jumped in and helped the community.
"Gerbrandt Grobler literally carried a pregnant woman out of her house to safety."
A lot of speculation and unnecessary pressure and negative attention on Marco could've been spared if the convener of selectors had just been open about the reasons why Duanne was left out. Or at least not say everyone is fit and available if that was clearly not the case.
Now people want to know if he didn't want to try & get Marco to 100. It would've earned him so much goodwill. Fans were calling for him. Because nobody knows how bad the injury is, it paints a terrible picture. All it would've taken to avoid this, is one simple update.
