Huh. So I've just found out that there were female custodes mentioned in Echos of Eternity which released 9 months ago. I don't remember there being any fuss about it then. It also means the announcement on Saturday wasn't completely out of the blue like people claim.

I’ve seen a bunch of people be shocked about the price of the Lt Titus statue from Weta today, but they don’t seem to be taking into account that it’s a 610mm (2 ft) tall statue made and painted by masters in the craft. It’s literally a piece of artwork. It’s worth the price.

4 of those questions are answered in the tweet they quoted. ‘They were always there’. We know the genders of a handfull of Custodes, the vast majority we don’t. And the models, most Custodes models are in full armour including helmets, they could be anything in there.

Go in every codex before this one and show where it says Custodes can’t be women. I guarantee you won’t see it. And Sisters of Silence are completely different to Custodes. Plus they’re not abandoned, they’re in the codex as well.
