Chateau Gruaud Larose, Saint Julien, 2005. 13% alc.. Elegant aged Bordeaux. Not much in the way leather or meaty notes. What it really reminded me of was Chinese salted plums or umeboshi. Packed with flavour. Better with a 1 hour decant. Nice enough finish, improving with air.

@Constan70997526 Happy New Year, Con! I hope you’re doing well. I’m doing well. I had flu in January so took a couple weeks off. Back on it now.

Fratelli Brovia, Unio, 2014. 14% alc.. This off-vintage special doesn’t have the power their Brovia Barolo Classico in other vintages, but nevertheless it’s a perfectly nice wine. Hitting peak. Red fruit, cherry, long finish. I think a 30 minute decant helped it to put on weight.

@So_mmel_ier Agreed. There’s lot of good sake out there. It’s more on the dry side than on the sweet and Zen side.

I much preferred this in the Sensory vs Zalto. I found too much tannin in the Zalto.

@So_mmel_ier I’ll hold on to mine then! I bought some 18s and 19s, but felt they needed time.

NorCal meets Burgundy. Littorai Mays Canyon Chardonnay 2016, the only white, but could be wine of the night. In-your-face nose that leans towards white flowers not butter. On the palate, it’s (surprisingly to me) not fat at all, chiselled like a Puligny as opposed to Meursault.
