Older games solved these issues making levels have an obvious path and training players to follow cues. Even the soulsborne games that get so much hate for their "unintuitive design" use unrealistic lighting and contrast to guide the players.
But none of those tricks are found

Actually yes, the focus on excessive detail, combined with the lack of distinctive geometry, custom lighting, etc.,etc., makes it impossible to distinguish an obvious path. The yellow paint is a lazy solution to a deeper problem.

This is a small change in Killer Dolls Dark Abyss, but should make a lot of difference. During combat, the girls now "snap to direction" faster now, making it easier to deal with enemies that come from different sides. Originally, turning was slower.

Working on a patch for Killer Dolls United that HOPEFULLY will be approved. Performance improved, but above wave 80 it ranges between 20/15-ish fps.
More improvements require reducing amount of enemies, reducing VFX, make shooting less frequent.
