@Chris_arnade Sounds like PNG, but this sort of simulated warfare is very common. See "counting coup" among the Indians of North America. Death isn't the point. Attaining honor by exhibiting bravery is. As "politics" in such societies was normally consensus based, it is kind of an extension.
