How does the indoor tornado work?
I have a box fan aimed at a curved wall of blankets to provide broad rotation.
Under the red sheet is a tube connected to my fog machine, which makes the vortex visible.
A ceiling fan set to max, in reverse, provides an updraft.

at around 1:50 there appears to be headlights of a vehicle flying hundreds of feet in the air around the funnel for several seconds.
Truly disturbing and terrifying.
Harrowing series of events last night, watched a tornado form on the Mississippi River and immediately become strong to violent right as it came into Rolling Fork, MS.

I'll always stand on the opinion that the Philadelphia MS tornado of 2011 was likely one of the strongest in history at it's peak.
With a core diameter of less than 100m and a forward speed of 100km/h, it scoured two-foot deep trenches. A bulldozer would take days to do that.

was watching Basehunters' footage of the Ashby tornado and these ultra-compact subvortices are just unbelievable.
They're moving so fast the camera barely registers them.
Wouldn't surprise me at all if those little vortices were harboring EF5-level winds at that instant

another crazy clip is this sequence as it crosses the dirt road.
Rips half a tree off, drags it 50ft along the ground, Ingests the trunk into the vortex core, LAUNCHES IT about 50 feet into the air, and fully debarks the part that made contact with the vortex core mid-flight.

Considering it's relatively small core diameter, and its rapid forward speed, it likely managed to carve that trench in perhaps less than 2 seconds.
That requires unbelievable wind velocities, likely way higher than 300mph.
I can't even imagine what it'd do to a structure.
